Mahindra launched the new mighty muscular Scorpio successfully. The Scorpio has always been aggressive in its looks and  Scorpio’s dominance on Indian roads is a well known story. But this time around, there’s a surprise in store for everyone, as this bully has a soft corner.

The revolutionary new Micro Hybrid technology makes Mahindra’s Scorpio really gentle. On the environment that is. This technology allows it to intelligently switch off the engine when not required. Thus going into standby mode after few seconds of engine idling, ready to spring back to life the moment it’s needed again. This ensures you burn less fuel and reduce emissions. Providing much needed relief to the environment, our lungs and our wallets too.

In a nutshell, the Micro Hybrid technology : -

• Switches off the engine when the Scorpio idles for a preset duration (*2 seconds in Scorpio VLX, 5 seconds in Scorpio M2Di)
• Switches the engine back on, the instant your leg depresses the clutch pedal
• Burns less fuel, thus reducing pollution and helping to conserve the environment

Mahindra deserve credit for taking the lead in implementing Micro Hybrid technology, an innovative and affordable step towards sustainability. We’re sure many will follow in the footsteps of this first Micro Hybrid car in the country.

I think anybody should first explain them what does a hybrid system stands for?
Atleast they can copy Honda’s or Toyota’s next time before putting on the decals.

  2. fas Says:

Deepak, thats why they say Micro-Hybrid. Something is better than nothing. The Micro-Hybrid costs around 3000 more than the non-Micro-Hybrid variant. Compare it to the double the price for the Civic hybrid and this seems still worth it.

  3. Carz Says:

It’s nice to know that the manufacturer of this Mahindra Scorpio thought of the environment and current economy to have launched such car. Let’s give them a chance to prove how nice and reliable this car is.

  4. Siddharth Says:

As far as New 2009 Mighty Muscular Scorpio is concerned, Micro Hybrid Technology is not the only new feature. There are 18 new features at Rs.70000 lesser than before. What a steal this SUV is in India. Now the Mahindra Scorpio pick is also being sold in US. Way to go Mahindra. Scorpio is truly international. http://www.mahindrascorpio.com/scorpio_refresh/whatsnew.html

  5. Vikas Jindal Says:

The fact of the matter is the the micro hybrid technology does work. It gives a saving of 1 kmpl which is really good for a SUV like scorpio. If it works like this for all cars, imgine how much fuel savings can be made. I read about it here http://www.mahindrascorpio.com/scorpio_refresh/Admin/tmpupload/Micro%20Hybrid.pdf

  6. Deepak Kashyap Says:

Hey hey hey please don’t talk as if you are the sales man of the jeep manufacturer. Do you know actually what is a hybrid technology? Don’t say again that the volt, prius and civic are damn costly it would have been scorpio jeep that is the cheapest HYBRID .
Actually this jeep has a idle start stop function that is indeed meant for fuel saving but it originated from the two wheelers manufacured by Honda. It is real worth only if the driver has the tendency of stopping idle for more than two minutes because even if the engine stops after that and you have to restart after two and a half minute then again it will cause more fuel consumption to start a diesel engine again and the gains would be nulified. Aso it is a stress on the starting system and it decreases their overall life.
It is actually meant for commercial vehicles which are subjected to idling more.

Peoples are still unaware of these technologies and these cheap manufacurers are making money by fooling them .Just being the sponser of an event and a leader in field matters a lot of difference. Mahindra is known to copy the outdated technology which other MNCs have been using for ages. Its just a matter of chance that they are able to copy a technology which is not important for use in jeeps in India but they have proven to brought it first. Actually it was already a part of Honda civic and they never befooled customers by calling it hybrid as it is termed as idle start stop. For hybrid they have the other variant.

Car manufacturers like GM, HONDA, TOYOTA are renowned for their ethics, technology and reliablity . So please don’t compare this jeep with their product atleast.

  7. Deepak Kashyap Says:

Fas please first check what does hybrid means actually. Civic , volt and prius have actual hybrid versions and not just having a sticker at their body shell to fool customers. As far as cost is concerned it always proves costly for a company like GM, Toyota, Honda who are the leaders to spend on R&D and proginal designs and patents while for a jeep manufacturer like mahindra it costs cheap to just steal the design and copy it. But it requires wise mind to copy too. So they have just pasted the decal of micro hybrid but in actual its not even a nano hybrid.

  8. fas Says:

Deepak, the Scorpio has a microhybrid, where as the Civic is a complete hybrid. There is a huge difference between both. The Scorpio is not really a hybrid but it has the facility of idling on battery which leads to increase in fuel efficiency by 1kmpl.

  9. vishal vasa Says:

the micro hybrid tech is a good way of reducing the pollution and also giving some help to curb pollution.

  10. vinay Says:

i thought hybrid would be something like its meaning like the outcome of two or more types , but its not actually hybrid

  11. Manu Sivaraman Eraviperoor Says:

    The all new Mahindra Scorpio,
This is the solid evidence to that,
INDIAN car manufactures going to reach International Standards.
