Mahindra has confirmed the launch of the Thar on its Facebook page. The Thar will be launched on the 21st of this month and will be powered by a 2.5 liter CRDe motor producing 105hp at 3800Rpm and 247Nm between 1800-2000Rpm. The Thar will feature 16 inch wheels and Borg Warner manual shift for 4×4. Weighing in at 1750 kgs, the Thar is a 2-seater and will be available in white, black, red and silver shades.
“After all the patience you guys’ve shown, we are pleased to announce that the Mahindra Thar CRDe 4×4 will be launching by the end of this month,” the company said on Facebook.

The Mahindra Thar DI 4X2 BS3 will be priced at Rs. 4,42,000/-, Mahindra Thar DI 4X4 BS3 will be priced at Rs. 4,90,590/- and Mahindra Thar DI 4X4 BS4 will be priced at Rs. 6,17,933/- (all prices ex-showroom, Hyderabad).

But how can they sell a BS3 Vehicle?
Venkatesh, BSIV is only for the 11 metro cities.

fas: I believe for time being, BS4 is applicable only for metros. Its just a beginning. But, it will not remain so.
In coming years, all the vehicles sold in the country will need to meet BS4. What will happen to Thar BS3 variants then?
Wont this factor keep the buyers at bay?
Madhav, when 5 years later all vehicles will need to comply with BSIV norms, Mahindra will discontinue the BSIII variants.
