Mahindra Verito Hatchback Named Vibe, Launch Next Month

Mahindra Verito CS Spy

We have seen many prototypes of the Verito hatchback running on tests rigorously. Mahindra is now ready to launch the hatchback based on the Verito platform, which will be named as Mahindra Verito Vibe. The Mahindra Vibe with a starting price of around Rs. 6 lakhs for the diesel version will be launched in May 2013 to compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20 and Volkswagen Polo.

One of the largest utility vehicle manufacturers, Mahindra will foray into the compact car segment with the launch of the Vibe hatchback, which according to the company will be a good opportunity to expand the customer base and learn more about the Indian car market. Remember the 2013-14 Union Budget has affected Mahindra the most, as the company has mostly utility vehicles in its portfolio, all of which are now subjected to the SUV tax.

The Mahindra Vibe hatchback will measure less than four metres in order to enjoy the excise duty benefits to offer aggressive pricing on the vehicle. Powering the Verito Vibe will be the Renault sourced 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine borrowed from the Verito sedan, which produces a maximum power of 65 BHP and peak torque of 160 Nm. The 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine provides strong performance along with impressive fuel efficiency. The Mahindra Vibe will be powered by a diesel engine only as the manufacturer doesn’t have a small sized petrol motor (sub 1.2-litres) for the hatchback currently.

The Verito Vibe has been developed and designed by Mahindra engineers by modifying the Renault Logan. Mahindra can expect additional volumes from the Vibe hatchback over the Verito sedan, which sells around 1500 units per month. The Verito sedan was earlier known as Logan when it was launched in the Indian market through the Mahindra – Renault partnership. After its breakup with Renault, Mahindra relaunched the Logan as Verito, updating it later with a facelift in August 2012.

I was expecting it Vib’O’. It looks like Mahindra’s astrologer has changed so it their style of naming their car.
I think after seeing response to recent Quant’O’ and e2’0′, they have learned something ;)

Its hard to believe that this is the new name as Mahindra usually name its products ending with O. It worked for Scorpio, Xylo, Gio, XUV 500 then Verito etc. The exception being Quanto. As Suraj mentioned I was expecting it to be Vibo. May be Viboo as the two OO in XUV and it is a huge success for them.

The only good and rather best part of the Verito is the suspension and the space it has to offer(both in the rear seat and the boot). Besides, that the overall product was a fair job from Mahindra…….Now that they are planning to launch the Vibe, hope they don’t mess around with the suspension……..Besides, the front and the rear styling do not match at all……..totally out of proportion……They did the same bad job with the Xylo, slicing it off from the rear and naming it as Quanto……..Looks like they hire College interns to do their designing job……(They only spent money on the XUV and Scorpio designers)….LOL :)…..But I dont think it will give any competition to Dzire and Amaze against whom it should actually compete……..unless the price it below the Vista :P
