Tata Motors entered the lifestyle pick-up segment with the Xenon to compete against the Scorpio Getaway, and word has it that Mahindra & Mahindra is secretly developing a cargo version of its recently launched MPV Mahindra Xylo. The unchristened model is likely to be available in the diesel version initially, with the petrol version following suit.

Since it’s based on the Xylo platform, it is widely believed that the vehicle will be rolled out from Mahindra’s existing Nasik facility (where the Xylo is manufactured). The cargo version of the Xylo which is undergoing testing at the moment, will be chiefly catering to markets in South Africa, where it would be exported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

Not sure if this will be a good thing ! The XYLO looks ok as a MUV … the cabin will need some serious changes to get it to look passable as a pickup.
