Maruti Suzuki will discontinue the old F-series engines in the Alto and Wagon R and replace it with the next generation K-series engines as it prepares to meet April 2010 deadline of stricter Bharat Stage IV emission norms. Along with the engine change, the cars are expected to get minor cosmetic changes to both the exterior and interior. Also on the cards are new colours and variants.

I presume the Wagon R will get the same K series engine as A Star/Zen but what sort of engine will find its way into Alto? Do we see the return of old powerful alto or a sub 1L engine is being developed?

Sumit, both the cars will get the same K-Series engine from the A-Star.

K-series engine, it sounds good. Hopefully minor changes in looks will be great.
