For those who are holding their breath for the new Swift , do not worry guys , the car in any configuration is a work of art in simplicity , reliability , comfort and dinamics . I bought mine in 2006 when they hit the market ( I had the Baleno 2 door hatchback ) and I was thinking about buying a Peugeot 307 ( another litte wonder ) when a friend asked me if I had seen the new Suzukis and it only took me a trip to the store and Baaam.... Sold ....I ordered the car . I was living in Spain at the time and I tell you guys I´m driving a piece of junk right now because I don´t wanna cast myself out of buying the new Suzuki Sport ( 2 door ) when they hit the dealerships . I know the dealers were offered the vehicle earlier and passed, but It seems that the time is overly ripe for such a natural MINI Cooper/Cooper S lower cost competitor in this country. I have read myriad articles since 2006 and the press seems to love this car. There is a great deal of enthusiasts such as myself who cant wait for an opportunity to buy a small ,lightweight, economical and yet performance oriented car such as the Swift and especially the Swift Sport. I know the Mini had had great success in the US even without the benefit of advertising on TV. I owned an 02 Mini Cooper S and am considering it again for 09 or 10. The problem is they are very expensive ( for the type of vehicle it is.A Cooper S starts at about 22k base in 2009) It seems you would have quite a pent up demand and an ability to offer the Swift /Swift Sport for thousands of dollars less and capture some of this market. If the Swift Sport were to be offered in the next few months I would wait as I would prefer not to spend as much as to what a MINI Cooper S costs.
