Finally Maruti has upgraded the petrol version of the Swift and Swift Dzire with the more fuel efficient, refined and environment friendly 1.2 litre K-series engine which comply with BSIV norms. Additionally, these petrol variants will now have a new improved transmission thus enhancing overall power-train performance. The K12 petrol engine on these variants delivers a fuel efficiency of 17.9 km per litre (previous G13B engine delivered 15.9 kmpl). Price of the DZire has been hiked by Rs. 10,000/- whereas the prices of the Swift remain unaltered thanks to small car excise concessions.

Hi Sreenivas,
I got a Petrol version of Dzire 3 months back(VXi). I have driven around 1500 Kms mainly on city roads only. I got the 1st free service done also. When i checked up milege, (full tank to full tank topup), I found that it gives me somewhere around 12.1 Kms per litre. Never driven on highways. Shall update further once I take it on highways next week.

suzuki company is best company in the world. maruti is on of the fraud company inthe world. maruti suzuki swift is a good car.but maruti swift is a local car maruti suzuki swift has suzuki engine. maruti swift has local engine. there are two types of swift car. first is maruti suzuki swift that is original car . this swift car has suzukiengine. there is inprint suzuki name on the engine. buy second is maruti swift, that is local car. this car has no suzuki engine. that is local or fake engine.there is no inprint suzuki name on the engine. if you have any dought please check your car engine.if your car engine suzuki ,that is original. you ask your dealer they also tell above said. maruti suzuki swift engine is import from japan. maruti swift engine is make from scrap material. maruti collect the scrap material from other car company like tata, fiat and they are making local engine. so dear friends don,t buy maruti swift. please buy maruti suzuki swift. please chech car engine is it suzuki engine or local or fake engine.

Sreenivas,
Thanks for your comment. The mileage of 17Kmpl would be of an average drive in city and highway. Inside city with AC I am getting around 12. In highway I got around 17. Also it will take sometime for engine to get set and give better mileage. I am expecting to get 14 in city ride and 18 in highway.
Overall vehicle performance and comfort is really good. You will enjoy to drive it.

Sreenivas,
I feel dzire is better than swift for its cost. We will not get a sedan car for this rate.
June 17, 2010 at 3:38 pm
Swift Dzire VXI: 2nd month.
Nice car, improved rear leg space when compared to swift, lots of boot space.
Mileage: 12 kmpl with AC in city (Hyderabad).
Interiors are good, but should have done more on the music system.
Comfortable driving, the KSeries engine’s (1200 cc) performance is as good as BS-3 (1300 cc). (I owned swift 1300 cc prior to dzire)
In the specification it was given as P-Valve against ABS, not sure what it means, I asked dealer about the same and they also do not have information on P-Valve.
Overall good value for money.

Rama,
This is what I was expecting. Person who has driven both the model can comment on proper comparison.
Can you tell me how the pickup and mileage when compared with 1.3L?
October 30, 2011 at 10:01 am
CAUTION! CAUTION! CAUTION! CAUTION!
DEAR FRIENDS, DONT’BUY MARUTI SUZUKI SWIFT CAR.BECAUSE THIS COMPANY
MAKES TWO TYPES OF SWIFT. ONE IS ORIGINAL. OTHER ONE IS DUPLICATE.
CAR BODY IS SAME BUT ENGINE IS DIFFER. YOU CHECK YOUR CAR ENGINE.THERE IS INPRINT SUZUKI NAME ON THE ENGINE THAT IS ORIGINAL. THERE IS NO INPRINT SUZUKI NAME THAT IS LOCAL ENGINE. YOU TELL YOUR FRIENDS.
THANKING YOU!
June 18, 2010 at 10:59 am
Pickup wise the 1.3L was a better car, you could feel the pickup when you step on the accelerator.
Not that 1.2L is bad, it is also good but its different, its lot smoother and not as instantaneous as 1.3L, and hence a better mileage.
I like the KSeries engine as its very smooth and very much comfortable for city driving.
The vehicle (dzire when compared to swift) is very stable at high speeds, I did 120 kmph and did not feel I was at that high speed.

First of all thanks to Rama and Suresh for all the great information provided about Dzire am definetly looking forward to buy it.But i have a confusion here between LXI and VXI.
I was thinking to buy a LXI and add the below accesories
1. power wondow (only front) – Rs 6000
2. ceter lock and remote sensor for parking – 3000
3. offcourse audio system preferably alpine.
in which i can save a few bucks .I understand that there are ther differences like fog light, tachmometer, temperature reader and etc .
But can you please suggest if this is agood idea or i should go for VXI .
your kind suggestion would be appreciated sonce you already own this car
June 18, 2010 at 8:16 pm
Victor, if money is not the problem then go for vxi. The reason is that it will be company fitted. The audio system is good, you will get keyless entry (remote lock) and also power windows for all the 4 windows.
June 18, 2010 at 9:31 pm
First of all Rama thankx for the quick response.Thats is true that there is a diff between company fitted and manually ,morever i would not like to open doors of my new car.is there any difference in the mileage part between LXi and Vxi and pless let me know the on road price with break up also .thanks in advnce
June 21, 2010 at 11:00 am
Victor, the engine is same for all the 3 variants. Mileage wise there will be no difference between LXI and VXI (probably you will get 1 km extra for ZXI due to radial tyres as they weigh less).
On road price for VXI for me came up to 6.2 lakhs (trust me I dont remember the break-up). You need to find out the same for LXI from the dealer (give the local delear a call).
June 21, 2010 at 11:39 am
Is the price of VXI BSIV got increased again? When I got in Feb, onroad price was 5.65L and with accessories, it came to 5.8L.
June 21, 2010 at 12:11 pm
By the time I bought VXI BSIV it got increased by Rs. 7000 and I stay in Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh), I had to pay another 3% extra for life tax (as it got increased from 9% to 12%). I got the car in May.

hey guyz i’m also planning to buy dzire probably vxi or zxi models…plz tell me about the nippon music system in vxi…is it a value for money..also let me know if CNG is good for it..is companny fitted CNG variant available..??…or should i go for the K series…plz reply asap,..
September 19, 2010 at 11:25 am
Aarav, go for a diesel version if you want economy. The stock music system is just about average.
September 19, 2010 at 2:28 pm
I agree with FAS..why to make K12 cng whn u have amazing nd tested 1-3 multizet..
But i wud suggest you shud change the company fitted tyres immediatly u r out of showroom and exchange them wid Yokohama tubeless tyres …would not cost u much extra …but you will see the differance ..
September 20, 2010 at 8:35 pm
thanks FAS & SSOMYA…..guyz wot i actually wanna know is dat is CNG actually coming company fitted as SUZUKI has launched few of the new CNG fitted cars…tell me about the maintenance cos of the CNG versions as i’ve never tried a CNG driven vehicle…FAS i’ve heard from many that diesel cars may prove problematic after 2 years….plz tell me about those aspects…also tell me more about getting the tyres changed SSOMYA…would tubeless tyres proove a good deal for the latter period…!!!
September 20, 2010 at 9:30 pm
Hi Aarav,
First and foremost ..what is your monthly running?? if its below 1500 km per month …u will recover the cost u give for CNG installation in about 2and1/2 yrs and above three years for a deisal varient..
therefore, firstly tell me the monthly running..
1.3 multijet engine is best in its class.. would do atleast 1.5 lakh km without much maintenance..all depends when u do 1.5 lk km
About tyres..
VXI,VDI and above comes with company fitted tubeless tyres..but due to price strains they are of very average quality..
Yokohama and Michelin are one of the best tubeless tyre manufactures
when car is brand new , you get can exchange them in almost same price…
Tubeless tyres are definatly better in performance and safety as they are silicon based
