Maruti Suzuki has facelifted the Wagon R for 2013, giving the vehicle quite a few changes. The Wagon R is one of the best selling cars for Maruti Suzuki and has constantly been the fourth highest selling car in the company’s portfolio. However last month, the company saw a sharp decline in the sales of the Wagon R, which fell ten positions in overall sales. The Wagon R sold 11,075 units in November 2012 but fell to a low 4316 units in December 2012. Now the facelifted Maruti Wagon R is all set to boost back sales of the vehicle, bring it back in the top 5.
The 2013 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R gets a new front grille, which is smaller than before. The single slat grille replaces the three slat grille on the older model. The bumper gets a bigger air dam while the fog lights get new enclosures. The headlights, wheels and most part of the exteriors continue to be the same as the old model. We some how find the old Wagon R more appealing on the outside than the new version. The interiors of the new Maruti Wagon R get a good uplift too. The black and gray interiors have been replaced by beige and brown interiors which look more airy and give the vehicle an upmarket feel.
The dashboard of the 2013 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R gets slight changes with the centre console getting revised buttons. The top end VXi variant gets an eagle wing audio system with USB and AUX ports. The seats are given the beige treatment too and make the Wagon R feels bigger than before, although the dimensions are unaltered. The engines too are untouched and power continues to come from the tried and heavily tested 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, K-series petrol mill which churns out 68 PS of power and 90 Nm of torque.
Other changes to the new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R include OBD-II compliance, new day/night inside rear view mirror, new storage box above instrument panel and the addition of two new colors – ecru beige and passion red. The Wagon R continues to be available in LPG and CNG variants and Maruti Suzuki claim an improvement in fuel economy by 8%. The 2013 Wagon R returns an ARAI certified mileage of 20.51 km/l and the vehicle is costlier by around Rs. 10,000/- over the old model.

Nice move. Although i dont find the changes more than just cosmetic, it adds beauty to this blue boy. The K-series engine is the best petrol engine in terms of refinement and Power. But in my opinion they should use the 1.2 L engine used in Ritz. I like the adrinaline rush of Ritz. The gas filled suspension also does a good deed of work.

If you don’t like the design, don’t buy it.
