Mitsubishi will finally launch the Pajero Sport in India around the 15th of February, 2012. The Pajero Sport is the 2008 Challenger, which adopts the Pajero name in the Asian market. The Pajero Sport has been coming for a long time now and Mitsubishi fans have been waiting eagerly for the SUV. The vehicle was delayed due to the floods in Thailand but now supplies have improved. Mitsubishi will be bringing the Pajero Sport as a CBU but will opt for CKD kits if they get good response from the market. The CKD kits will result in the Pajero Sport being assembled at HM’s Thiruvallur plant.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be powered by a 2.5-liter, diesel motor which produces 134 BHP of power and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a manual as well as automatic transmission and is highly fuel efficient. The Pajero Sport is a 7-seater with 3-row of seats and will compete with the Toyota Fortuner. It features a massive ground clearance of 215 mm along with super select 4-wheel drive system, giving it the go anywhere capability the Pajero is famous for! Expect prices to be around Rs. 22 lakh (around Rs. 2 lakh more than what we reported earlier, due to the devaluation of the Indian rupee).

Fortuner is too much powerful than this Pajero Sport. How can we compare it with Fortuner.

Fortuner 184BHP
Pajero 134BHP

I am disappointed. I think Mitsubishi will have price it less than 20 lac.

Waiting for the 3.2 ltr engine. hope that its under 28 lkhs. Faisal, can u plz give me a clue when the Pajero Sport is goin to launch and when will it get its torquey 3.2 ltr engine in India. If the 2.5 ltr one was for 20 lkhs, then it would have been a real steal

Nd what do u recommend, The Pajero Sport or the Forturner 2012??

Kevin, I would suggest the Fortuner as Mitsubishi’s future in India is uncertain. Besides their service is also a question mark. The Pajero Sport will be launched next month.
