Nissan has announced the launch of the Sunny Diesel and opened the bookings. The Nissan Sunny Diesel is available in two variants XL and XV and is priced at Rs. 7.98 lakhs and 8.78 lakhs respectively (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Sunny Diesel is powered by the K9K diesel motor that also does duty on the Micra, Renault Fluence and Mahindra Logan. This diesel engine produces 86 PS of power at 3750 RPM and 200 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM. Mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the Sunny Diesel returns an ARAI certified mileage of 21.64 kmpl. The launch of the K9K motor in the Sunny is a world first for Nissan.

“We are delighted to introduce the diesel variant of Sunny for the Indian market. At a time when Indian market is witnessing an increase in demand for diesel cars, Sunny Diesel with Nissan technology of high performance and fuel economy will be the right choice for our valued customers in their search for the most suitable sedan,” Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director and CEO, Nissan India, said.

Some of the key features of the Sunny diesel include dual airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, alloy wheels and engine immobilizer. The feature list is the same as the petrol version and the diesel Sunny commands a premium of Rs. 1.10 lakhs more than its petrol counterpart. The Sunny diesel’s ex-showroom price is the same across India and will only vary due to road tax, insurance and octroi rates being different in different cities. The diesel Sunny is available in six colours – Silver, White, Grey, Red, Blue and Black.

IS EBD IS THE ESP ? ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM? THEN ITS A BIG PLUS FOR A SAFE SEDAN CAR FOR INDIA ! WHO GIVES ESP IN A LESS THAN 10 LAKH CAR HERE? NO 1 I RECKON.

Viper, EBD is not ESP. EBD is Electronic brakeforce distribution, which alters the amount of force applied to brakes of the car.
