Renault plans to do what Nissan has been doing with the Micra. Make use of its facility in Orgadam, near Chennai as an export hub. The French car maker plans to manufacture the Duster SUV exclusively in India. The company will produce right hand drive model of the Duster SUV and will export it to all RHD markets including UK, where it will be badged as a Dacia. This is the first time a car maker is making India as the export base for SUVs.
The Renault Duster will be launched in India by mid-2012. It will be powered by a 1.5-liter dCi motor which produces 105 BHP of power and 240 Nm of torque. A 1.6-liter petrol engine will also be offered with the Duster, which will produce 105 BHP of power and 148 Nm of torque. Renault will offer the Duster in both 4×2 and 4×4 options with prices starting at Rs. 8 lakhs. The Duster will compete with the Mahindra Scorpio and the Tata Safari.

Cmon! Another ugly car??? Looks like Renault is treating India as a dumping ground for it’s ugly line of vehicles. Will surely fail.
The picture of the interior shown is actually the LHD version of the Koleos (mirrored of course)!! Requesting a correction!!
Harish, the picture is of the Duster, not the Koleos.
I’m sorry fas, I disagree. Three reasons
1 – I believe, you haven’t seen the interiors of the Koleos. See them here – http://renault.co.in/cars/koleos/gallery.html
2 – Interiors of Renault Duster here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attachments/indian-car-scene/586727d1312208747-renault-duster-edit-now-confirmed-india-renault-duster-interiors.jpg
3 – Image shows AT. Duster come with an AT anywhere in the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dacia_Duster
I’m sorry – Duster doesnt come with an AT
Thanks Harish. Yes it was the Koleos, the image has been removed.
Please note the Gauges! The pointers are reversed and the Red lines are on the left :)
So, a mirrored image of Duster interior???
Nice find Harish. Interesting to see how keen the readers are…
This looks like a rebatdgeing of the old Nissan Xterra in US ! :( what a shame
