Skoda will launch its C-segment sedan on the 7th of October, 2011. The Czech automaker recently unveiled the MissionL concept at the on going Frankfurt Motor Show. According to Autocar India Editor Hormazd Sorabjee, Skoda has decided against using the name Lauretta and plans to change the name yet again. Earlier the company was rumoured to name the C-segment sedan the Rapide. Now the mystery of the name will only be solved next month, but whatever the car is called, it looks stunning in its concept avatar.

At the unveiling of the MissionL concept, the officials of Skoda have said that the MissionL Concept is 80% production ready. This means that if the MissionL will most probably look this stunning, which is something which will worry the Volkswagen Vento. The C-segment sedan from Skoda will help the company in increasing its volumes drastically as it looks to achieve its sales target of 1.5 million units per year by 2018. The Skoda design language is very evident on the MissionL, which will be positioned in the highly competitive C-segment.

I think Skoda is losing identity of it unique design. Being in VW group, skoda is looking more of Jetta and Passat due to re-usability..

FAS is this the Skodas new C Segment car which is in last pic. Then why VW logo on that car.

It looks bit wider than Vento

Kedar, Volkswagen logo to fool people.

Fas I agree to the fact that this company is fooling people with its design. Skoda lends it badge and grills to vento and becomes a new c segment. There are so many such cases to prove that these companies do a little to come up with unique designs (to cut cost obviously). But we are paying good some for similar looking cars. Flashback- Audi A3 when launched is the VW golf. Audi S5 looks like today’s Laura.

Well this debate could continue, but let us know what you think.

Rohan, yes even other companies like Fiat and Suzuki do it. Take for example the SX4 and Sedici.

It means they thought that the cars is so similar to vent that people will get fooled ?

I remember some mfr using a Ford logo…don’t remember the car. Had seen it on the western express highway in Mumbai. Anyways they can fool the fools not us, Motorbeam readers to be specific :D

Deepak, rightly said but by putting wrong logos they just make it more obvious.

The car which mentioned in above pic is not the Skodas C Seg car. This car will be replacement of Skoda Octavia.

Yeah, saw the Skoda executive talk on NDTV CNB, he said mid Nov.
Nowhere close to the MissionL, looks just like Fabia from front, I did not find it attractive!

faisal October 11, 2011 at 12:56 am

Harshad, we all were expecting MissionL influence but looks like MissionL will only feature on next generation Octavia.
