Kite 4, Kite 5 Are Indica & Indigo Replacements [Scoop]

Old vs New Tata Indigo

You read it first on MotorBeam. Remember the Falcon 4 and Falcon 5, which turned out to be the Bolt and Zest respectively. Well, Tata Motors has codenamed their Indica and Indigo replacements as Kite 4 and Kite 5. The Bolt replaces the Vista while the Zest replaces the Manza, news we brought you exclusively a few weeks back. Yes, Tata Motors will axe both the Vista and Manza next year. Even better, the company will also phase out the current Indica and Indigo, the latter which is sold in eCS avatar. The current Indica and Indigo will be discontinued in 2016.

The Kite 4, which will replace the Indica, will sit between the Nano and Bolt, the world’s most affordable car set to get more expensive with the introduction of more feature loaded variants. Both the Kite 4 and Kite 5 are based on the Indica platform, which has been revised heavily and styling has been given high emphasis. That’s the reason why the Kite 4 and Kite 5 will not look anything like the company’s current cars. Tata Motors is investing heavily in getting the appearance of their vehicles right.

Both the Kite 4 and Kite 5 are just code-names, the actual cars will be called something else but the Indica and Indigo name will not be used. Tata Motors is trying to do away with its current image and is thus bringing new cars with new names. That’s the reason why the Zest, which is engineered on the Vista platform, doesn’t use either the Indica or Vista names. Our source also informs us that like the Bolt and Zest, the Kite 4 and Kite 5 will be feature loaded and will look very attractive. Tata Motors will utilise the idle Sanand facility to manufacture these cars.

I agree with Ramesh. No need to kill Indi-ca/go. They could have gone iconic. But thanks to our mentality of calling them taxi, we didn’t even spared vista and thanks to Tata’s lack of improvement; the Indica name plate will finally R.I.P.

Why are they even trying passenger car segment. If a company this big and rich in resources cant even come out with some ‘design’ and quality in their decade old product that should be a revelation. Any way global companies took over the market…The next company to get the heat is Mahindra… they should focus on commercial line..
Talent and creativity is in born…if you cant build it buy it..no shame…that’s what they are doing any way…sangyong..rover…a buying spree to indirectly get to that talent….even that wont last long…the govt and indian companies realize very late that they cant compete and build everything….but accept the reality and try to enjoy the best…rather than deprieving the nation from enjoying automobiies and electronics by false ego that we will make it one day…there by deceiving the whole nation….even sri Lankan youth were riding higer CC Japanese made Honda’s decades ago when our youth were struggling with rajdoot and yezdiii….
while our srdarjis trying to make another honds…

How can the Zest which is a compact car replace Manza which is in a different space altogether. The Zest will be competing with Maruti Suzuki Dezire and not SX4 or its latest launch and other compact cars like the Xcent, Amaze and to be launched compact from Ford, so the positioning is again going to be wrong. With improved interiors the Indica could be sold for long.

Next Scoop: Hawk 4 and 5 to replace Sumo and Safari :) … TATA has to avoid commercial segment for the time being or have a separate model portfolio for taxi segment. If they allow commercial use of Bolt and Zest, they will share the same fate with Indica/Vista/Indigo.

TML should not discard the three work horses the Sumo, Movus, Indica and Indigo, but plan to shift them the commercial vehicle showroom but 2015 as this will keep away taxi buyers. Also service of these cars should commercial vehicle service centers.
