Days of waiting may be finally over and the Nano will be readily available for delivery, this August onwards. Tata has started production of the Nano at their new plant at Sanand and will produce close to 2.5 lakh cars per annum. That means, coming this August, one can pick up the Nano right off the shelf. At present there are only 35,000 Nano’s on the road.
“From this August or September, customers will be able to walk into our showroom and drive out in a Nano”
Said Manoj Arora, Senior Manager, Tata Motors. With its new plant underway, delivery time had considerably reduced. Earlier, the Nano was manufactured in limited numbers at Tata’s Pantnagar plant which also caters to manufacture of Tata’s light commercial vehicles.

Suzuki India should be eternally grateful to Mamta Banerjjee for delying the plan of Ratan Tata and make him suffer great financial loss. She also deprived many lower middle class of privilege of owing a car. Suzuki was able to sell lot of 800 and Alto due to the delay of over one year.

Nano is being benchmarked all over the world!
Few Chinese OEs have already started designing their own Nano rivals. (eg. Geely)
Its one another Indian Marvel!
I read a quote somewhere: Nano equals the price of a pair of a high end Audi ORVMs.

Well a lot of people bad mouth the Tata Nano and the bad reviews its got from Auto Mags doesnt help either. But for all the detractors of the tata nano – dont underestimate the desire of millions of people who want to move from 2 wheels to 4 wheels at an affordable price. Tata Nano may as well replace the Autos for one…that would be a pleasant sight for the future.
