2013 Corolla Furia Concept Front Overlook

The eleventh generation Toyota Corolla is due for a 2014 global launch and some details of the upcoming sedan have been revealed recently. The 2014 Toyota Corolla will be rolling out with significant styling and technology upgrades. The upcoming Corolla will be designed with the styling elements showcased on the Furia concept at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. The new Corolla will continue to offer the 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol motor but with the Toyota’s new Valvematic continuously variable valve timing and lift system.

The existing 1.8-litre engine features the VVT-I system, which has only variable valve timing. Currently, the engine produces a peak power of 132 HP and 178 Nm of torque and the figures will increase slightly with the new tech along with increasing fuel economy. The basic variants of the Corolla will come mated to the current four-speed automatic transmission but the manual gearbox will get treated with a sixth gear. On higher trim levels of the Corolla, CVT automatic transmission will be optional.

Toyota will continue to offer four trim levels for the upcoming Corolla but will now be called base, LE, S and Eco. Apart from the usual feature list, the next generation Toyota Corolla will come equipped with new options including push-button start, Softex leather seats and a navigation system. Toyota has not confirmed about these details yet but we will get to know more about the upcoming Corolla later this year. We can expect the next generation Corolla to enter the Indian market during 2014, powered by both petrol and diesel engines.
