
Hyosung is planning to launch an off-road motorcycle, specific for the Indian market. This off-road motorcycle will be called the Hyosung RT250D and will be a bigger version of the RT125D, which is currently sold in global markets. This new off-roader will be launched around April 2013 and will be assembled in Wai, near Pune. The company has invested close to Rs. 65 crore in setting up of a second assembly facility, which will have three assembly lines producing 10 bikes per line, per shift every day. This assembly line will be operational soon and will also churn out the upcoming Hyosung GT250R and the GV650 cruiser.

Garware Motors plans to launch the Hyosung GT250R and Hyosung GT250N by May 2012. The company had earlier planned to launch these quarter-litre motorcycles in March but postponed the launch to see the changes the Government of India makes in the upcoming budget. But its just not that GT250 that will be coming from the Hyosung stable this year as the company has plans of launching two cruiser motorcycles in the country in 2012. Just a couple of days ago, various media carried two bits of important news from Garware Motors. This news was said to be revealed at the Garware Superbiking showroom launch in Hyderabad. The first bit of news was that Garware Motors is planning to launch electric bikes. While the other bit was that the price of the Hyosung GT250R would be at Rs. 2.25 lakhs. Now neither of these news are authentic and should be taken with a bucket load of salt and pepper. We got in touch with Garware Motors and they were surprised themselves about leading newspaper carrying such stories. Garware Motors is planning to locally manufacture Hyosung bikes in India. The company is looking at 100% local content within two years on Hyosung bikes. Currently the two motorcycles being sold – the GT650R and ST7 are being assembled at Wai, near Pune, via CKD kits imported from S&T Motors, Korea. Garware Motors is looking at 40% local content in the first phase and is already in talks with a few vendors for the same. This decision will have a huge impact on the pricing of these bikes. Garware Motors is charting our aggressive plans for India. The company which handles the sales of S&T Motors Hyosung motorcycles has seen a very good response for the superbikes in India and is now planning to launch more bikes in the country. Garware Motors is also looking at increasing production at its assembly plant in Wai, near Pune. Furthermore, after the launch of Kawasaki Ninja 650R, the company says that they have seen a positive response for their bikes. Garware Motors has started dealerships across the country known as Garware Superbiking. The concept is very similar to Bajaj Probiking but the experience is very different. Get into the showroom and you will notice a large amount of bikes on display. When we went to the showroom we saw a total of seven Hyosung motorcycles on display. There were two Hyosung ST7s and five Hyosung GT650Rs on display. Both the bikes were present in every colour. You can touch, feel and even sit on the bikes to get to know them better. Garware Motors plans to launch more motorcycles in India as it sees tough competition from Bajaj Auto who recently stole its thunder by launching the Kawasaki Ninja 650R at a more competitive price. The Pune based company is planning to get three machines from the Hyosung stable, which would all have lower capacity then the current Hyosung bikes on sale India. The possible bikes to make it to go on sale would be the Hyosung GT250R and the a 400cc machine. Garware Motors will not restrict itself to motorcycles in India. The company is planning to import high end cars and is already in talks with a MNC for the same. The company’s MD, Diya Garware has confirmed the development but refused to divulge details on the same.
