
Japanese motorcycle makers are obsessed with attracting every last drop of power from their small capacity bikes. All these motorcycle manufacturers are active in the 150cc segment, offering low displacement machines with the soul of the flagship. Case in point is the Yamaha R15, which draws heavily from the Yamaha R1 and the Honda CBR150R, which again is a smaller version of Honda VFR 1200F. Details about the 2012 Kawasaki ZZR1400, which is called the ZX-14R in the US are out. The new refreshed vehicle gets a slighter bigger engine of 1441 cc which produces about 200 to 210 bhp of raw power. It also features many sought after features like a redesigned fuel injection system, a 3 mode traction control system, redesigned exhaust system, a tweaked chassis, longer swingarm, revised styling, improved ergonomics, a slipper clutch and updated brakes and suspension components. Kawasaki has announced the launch of India Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd. (IKM), its new Indian subsidiary specializing in motorcycle imports and sales. IKM is expecting its release of several supersport, sport and cruiser models primarily in the 250cc class or greater to drive sales up to around 1,000 units in 2010. Kawasaki entered into a technical assistance agreement with Bajaj Auto in 1984. Under the agreement, Bajaj has produced and sold motorcycles in collaboration with Kawasaki. Kawasaki’s new imports and sales subsidiary, IKM will consign the production of CKD 1 motorcycles to BAL’s Chakan plant. The locally made motorcycles will then be sold together with imported complete motorcycles through Bajaj’s Probiking shops. [click to continue…]
