
The 250cc segment is the new growing segment with more and more players pitching in their products in this segment to gain the market share. We already have the CBR 250R from Honda and the Ninja 250 from Kawasaki. Recently Hyosung also announced that they will be bringing the GT250 to India soon. There were also speculations that Suzuki, the long silent player in the Indian market would be introducing the GW250 to the Indian market next year. All of a sudden the 250cc segment has started to look the most lucrative to motorcycle manufacturers in the country. The Kinetic Comet (Hyosung Comet) was the first bike to enter way back in the last decade. Later on, the Kawasaki Ninja 250R re-started the performance motorcycle scene, which was followed by the recent arrival of the Honda CBR250R. Now the Hyosung GT250R and the KTM Duke 200 are scheduled to hit Indian shores, along with the Suzuki GW250 and the Yamaha 250cc machine. Suzuki Motorcycle has confirmed the launch of the GW250 in India. The baby B-King is powered by a 4-stroke, liquid cooled, twin cylinder 250cc engine producing 26 bhp of power at 8,500 Rpm and 24.2Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm and features twin exhausts. Although the GW250 is similar in power compared to the CBR250R, it weighs slightly heavier at 180kgs. However the looks of the GW250 will be its selling point and Suzuki has planned the launch really. The design of the Suzuki GW250 is similar to that of the 1300cc B-King (also known as the naked Hayausa), and will be priced at Rs. 1.5 lakhs. [click to continue…]
