Audi currently sells the A8 L in India, which is a long wheelbase version of the A8 sedan, measuring a length of 5267 mm, which is 130 mm than the standard version. The German automaker does not offer the regular version of the A8 in India yet and plans to do so in the near future if the spy shot (pictured above) of the standard A8 sedan is to go by. Spotted in Mumbai by MotorBeam team member Shashank Ramugade, the standard A8 has a smaller wheel base by 130 mm and shorter height by 2 mm. While the rest of the features in the Audi A8 remain quite similar, the only evident difference (other than the length) between the two models are the chrome lining on the front grille of the A8. Audi has launched the top version of the new Audi A8 L. The A8 L W12 quattro is powered by a 6.3 FSI petrol engine which produces 500 hp of power and 625 Nm at 3,250 rpm. The twelve cylinder motor helps to accelerate the flagship Audi from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds and to a an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. The new Audi A8 L W12 is priced at Rs. 1.26 crores (ex showroom, Maharashtra). The Audi A8 L W12 quattro features standard LED headlight units with all lighting functions performed by LEDs. Kamal Hassan, well known for his versatility in acting has just bought himself a Audi A8L. The widely acclaimed actor has been seen driving around Chennai roads in his new 2011 A8 Limousine. The recently launched Audi was quickly bought by Kamal in white colour at a price close to Rs. 90 lakhs. The car features special security systems to enhance safety.
Audi plans to launch the A8L Security in India. The armoured vehicle is powered by a W12 6.3 liter W12 engine producing 500bhp of power and 625Nm of torque. It reaches 100kmph in 7.3 seconds and has a top speed limited to 210kmph. The Audi A8L Security will be competing directly with the Mercedes S-Guard and the BMW High Security 7-Series and will be priced at Rs. 6.5 crore. The long-wheelbase high-security version of the A8 meets the strictest guidelines in force for civilian vehicles, with a host of special security features available in addition to its heavy armoring. Audi launched the new 2011 version of the A8 in India today. The company has launched the long wheel base version dubbed the A8 L. The new Audi A8 L is priced Rs. 89 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards and Audi India has received 150 bookings already, which it intends to deliver in the next 4 months. Audi India will launch the new 2011 A8 on the 10th of January. The 4.2L FSI V8 (367bhp of power, 445Nm of torque) will be priced at Rs. 91 lakh, whereas the 3.0 TDi V6 (247bhp of power, 550Nm of torque) will be priced at Rs. 76.5 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Mumbai). Audi will launch the 2011 A8 in India this Diwali. The German automaker plans to take the fight to the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class with the new A8. The Indian version will be offered in a long wheelbase version only and is expected to be priced around Rs. 75 lakhs for the 3.0 V6 TDi (240bhp) variant.
