Remember Pete’s tuning? We have tested many of their tuning boxes on various diesel cars. The latest being the Fiat Grande Punto 90hp (here). Now the company has supercharged the Audi R8 with VF-Engineering. This has bumped up the power of the stock R8 to 560 bhp from the stock 420 bhp. The entire package cost amounts to Rs. 19.8 lakhs and will require 3 to 4 days to complete.

“The smile on the customers face was all that we were looking for and it was a real broad one.” Peter K. Chacko, Managing Director, Pete’s Automotive Products said.

With a higher bar set for this project, VF Engineers chose to use the latest supercharger from Eaton Corporation: Twin Vortices Series TVS 1900. It is a 6th generation 4 lobe roots supercharger that supersedes the older 3 lobe MP90 and MP112. With the ability to rev to higher bearing speeds for longer periods, the TVS 1900 unit can be operated at lower speeds than the older unit and still create more boost due to its displacement and higher efficiency. The supercharger is mounted atop the motor and driven off an upgraded Goodyear serpentine belt system and heavy duty active belt tensioner. The stock belt has been upgraded from 5 to 7 ribs. The VF supercharger system remains fully OBD2 compliant and is supported by a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty on the product only.

Audi has launched the R8 Spyder in India priced at Rs. 1.47 crore (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The open top version of the Audi R8 is powered by a by a 5.2 liter V10 petrol motor producing 525hp of power, propelling the car to 100kmph from standstill in just 4.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 313 kmph. The R8 Spyder features Bang & Olufsen sound system, LED headlights, space frame technology, permanent all wheel drive, six-speed sequential transmission, Launch Control, heated seats and pigmented leather seat covers.

“We believe that the Audi R8 Spyder will add to the spurring demand for excellence in auto performance. With this addition to the R8 family, after the launch of the R8 V10 in January, Audi now offers the whole range of R8 options in India,” Mr. Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India said.

Audi India will launch the R8 Spyder on the 25th of March, 2011. The convertible version of the R8 will be priced in excess of Rs. 1.5 crore and will feature the same V10 motor which powers the R8 V10 Coupe. With a displacement of 5,204 cc, the R8 Spyder will produce 525ho of power at 8000Rpm and 530Nm at 6500Rpm. The electronic rev limiter does not intervene until 8700Rpm, when the pistons travel 26.91 meters every second. The ten-cylinder has a specific power output of 100.9 hp per liter displacement. Each hp only has to move 3.28 kilograms of weight. Equipped with a manual transmission, the open top sports car from Audi tips the scales at only 1,720 kilograms.

The Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI quattro launches from a standing start to 100 kmph in 4.1 seconds. The version with the R tronic sequential transmission needs only an additional 8.3 seconds to break the 200 kmph mark. And the acceleration just keeps coming up to a top speed of 313 kmph.

The range of optional equipment offers additional attractive features, including the Audi parking system advanced with integrated rearview camera, the high-beam assistant, a storage package or Bluetooth mobile phone preparation. A sports suspension with conventional dampers is available at no charge to sharpen the racing character. The front spoiler, the rear diffuser, the mirror housings and several engine compartment components are optionally available in carbon from Audi quattro.

Audi has announced the launch of the new Audi R8 5.2 FSI for India, thereby strengthening its leadership position in the super sports car segment. The Audi R8 5.2 FSI will be available with a manual six-speed transmission or R tronic which enables the driver to change gears in an instant via rocker switches on the steering wheel.

The quattro permanent all wheel drive technology used along with the “Launch Control” function, which is integrated with both types of transmission, helps maintain absolute stability and driving comfort. Built of aluminum in the Audi Space Frame design, this high performance automobile weighs a mere 210 kgs without compromising on handling, drive quality and safety standards. The exterior of the Audi R8 5.2 FSI is refreshed with newly designed sideblades to increase air intake and maximize performance. A very distinctive design highlight of the R8 V10 is the all LED headlights as standard equipment.

With its win in the sports car category of the readers’ poll “Classics of the Future 2009,” the Audi R8 mid-engine sports car underlines just what a positive impact it has on the Audi brand’s image, as perceived by classic car fans. The majority of the over 16,000 participating readers of the magazine “Motor Klassik” chose the R8 as the current sports car with the greatest potential for becoming a genuine classic in the future.

This is the fourth time that the German trade journal has staged this readers’ poll. Alongside 78 models from 1979, some of which have already become genuine classics, readers were also able to choose from 168 current models in seven categories. The “Classics of the Future” prize is awarded every two years.

The world’s fastest Audi R8 has just landed with a 5.2L V10 from the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 giving it 528-hp. This V10 R8 goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and attains a top speed of 196 mph. but this car isint cheap and costs $181,568 USD. Why would i buy a Audi for that much?

The Audi R8 V10 features new magnetic ride dampers as standard, a new rear diffuser to generate more downforce, twin-oval tailpipes, LED headlamps with daytime running lights, high-gloss black paint for the large air intakes in the front, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Ceramic brakes are optional along with a Bang and Olufsen stereo and Nappa leather.

The Audi R8 V10 is mated to either a 6-speed manual or an R-tronic semi-auto that allows it to return an estimated fuel economy of 17 mpg.

This version of the R8 was initially going to have the same engine as the RS6, a 5.0 litre V10 TFSI engine. It was thought initially that this version of the engine, which produces 580 PS (572 hp/427 kW), was going to be fitted. However, the twin-turbo system overheated, and one prototype was destroyed at the Nürburgring.

Audi has launched its mid-engined super sports car the Audi R8. The Audi R8 is priced at 1,17,00,000 INR (ex-showroom Delhi). The Audi R8 was officially unveiled at the splendid lawns of the German Embassy in New Delhi along with two Audi racing legends: Auto Union Type D and the Audi R8 Le Mans Prototype, both chosen for their link to ground-breaking technologies of their time. These cars were introduced to the public in a rare display, after which in a stunning presentation eight Audi R8′s moved in a convoy to the historic India Gate through streets of New Delhi.

“The Audi R8 is not only a strong statement about the brand, but also about Audi’s direction for the future – to be the most successful premium brand by 2015. It embodies the philosophy of “Vorsprung durch Technik”. The Audi R8 has won several awards in Germany and Europe, along with the double victory at the famous 2008 World Car of the Year awards, winning both the ‘World Performance Car” and “World Design Car of the Year’ awards.
