Ford EcoSport Is Under 4 Meters!

The hottest topic in the Indian auto-sphere is undoubtedly the Ford EcoSport. The American automaker plans to put the EcoSport on Indian roads later this year and has already revealed the production version of the much awaited compact SUV. After some bit of confusion on the length of the EcoSport, Ford has finally given a confirmation that the EcoSport is under 4-meters in length. Ford has unveiled the production ready EcoSport to the Brazilian media as well as at the ongoing Beijing Auto Show in China. The American automaker has also given a glimpse on the interiors of the Ford EcoSport, along with updating the Ford India website with the features of this compact SUV. Thankfully though, Ford has not made many changes to the appearance of the EcoSport and the obvious missing feature seen on the concept is the LED head lights. Ford EcoSport Is A Hit Already

Ford has not yet launched the EcoSport but its safe to say the vehicle is already a massive hit. The reason we say so is that the company has received tremendous response for the Ford EcoSport, which seems have created a storm of sorts in India. When Ford unveiled the new EcoSport for the first time, people went so gaga over it that many reached dealerships wanting to book it. Ford dealers were initially getting close to 30 calls a day, which declined to 15 over a period of time. This shows that people can’t actually wait to get their hands on the EcoSport. For the US based utility and passenger car manufacturer Ford, 2012 is indeed a very crucial and interesting year ahead. This is all due to the all new Ford compact SUV, the EcoSport that the company is betting heavily upon to gain some solid market share in many potential markets. The Ford EcoSport was first unveiled at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo which took place in the month of January. Ford EcoSport Production Ready photo

The Ford EcoSport is undoubtedly the hottest product to be unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo. Infact the interest from prospective customers is so high that Ford even went ahead and showcased the vehicle at a couple of malls in Mumbai. Roads in Brazil are full of Ford EcoSport prototypes, with heavy camouflage to protect what lies beneath. But finally a non-camouflaged production ready version of the EcoSport has been caught. The said vehicle was caught in Brazil and seems to be going for a crash test. The production version loses the LED head lamps, while the rest of the styling is the same as the concept version showcased earlier. Ford has guarded the interiors of the EcoSport like a crown jewel. The American automaker has showcased the Ford EcoSport extensively in the India but always kept the interiors in the dark. Either the Ford EcoSport is placed at such a height that the interiors are difficult to view or the windows are tinted jet black. Either way, the mystery has come to an end as the first spy shot of the EcoSports interior has been captured in Brazil. EcoSport Engine photo

The Ford EcoSport is the first vehicle in India to feature the EcoBoost engine. The EcoBoost family of engines are turbocharged, direct injection petrol engines, which are designed to deliver more power and torque, comparable to a larger displacement naturally aspirated engine. The USP of EcoBoost engines are the 20% better fuel efficiency and 15% reduction in greenhouse emissions. This engine will feature on the EcoSport, Focus, B-Max, C-Max and the new Fiesta (without a turbocharger!) and might also makes its way into the Figo after a few years. Due to the compact nature of these engines, Ford sees viability in producing EcoBoost engines and plans to use it extensively in its future line-up of cars.
