The 4 door Elantra sedan was already a kicker in its looks and had bagged the best looking car at the North American International Auto Show this year. Hyundai has confirmed the launch of the new 2013 Elantra in India. The Korean automaker is bullish on the luxury car segment and is betting big on the new Elantra and Sonata to bring it sales in a segment which it hasn’t been able to crack till date. The company will announce the prices of the Hyundai Sonata by the end of this month and will start deliveries early next month. This will be followed by the introduction of the Hyundai i20 Facelift in April, after which the new Elantra will be launched by September 2012. The Sonata is available with a 2.4-litre petrol engine but the Elantra will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. [click to continue…]

It’s not news that the Toyota Corolla is the world’s best selling car. Anybody who knows a thing or two about automobiles would be knowing the fact that the Corolla has been the largest selling car in the world for many years now. In fact, the Toyota Corolla zoomed past Volkswagen Beetle recently to become the best selling automobile nameplate of all time. In such a scenario, when another model almost sells as much as the Corolla to topple it from the top of the charts, it definitely makes news worldwide. And, as the corporate heads of Toyota, Honda and Ford have all agreed at various points of time of being wary of, it is none other than the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai that has achieved this feat. Hyundai India recently showcased the new Elantra at the 2012 Auto Expo. The 2012 Hyundai Elantra has become the North American Car of the Year 2012, beating the Volkswagen Passat and Ford Focus (which came in second and third). The last time Hyundai won the same award was in 2009, with the Genesis. The D-segment sedan which slots right between the Verna and Sonata, receives the Fluidic Sculpture and is scheduled for an Indian launch by September 2012. It will compete with the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Chevrolet Cruze and is expected to be priced between Rs. 12-14 lakhs. Both petrol and diesel engines will be available in the Elantra, which is set to be manufactured at Hyundai India’s facility in Chennai. Just yesterday we wrote about the upcoming cars in 2012 and had the Hyundai Elantra/Avante in our list and today we come across spy pictures of the car. The 2012 Hyundai Elantra Avante was spotted at Taj Mahal in Delhi and featured heavy camouflage. Although Hyundai has its plant in Chennai, its corporate office is in Delhi and the company could be in the early stages of testing of this D-segment sedan. The Elantra was launched in India a few years back and did not do well. However the next generation Elantra looks very promising with the Fluidic syling and loads of features. Hyundai would position the Elantra Avante right between the Verna and upcoming Sonata (i45), pricing the car around Rs. 12-14 lakhs. [click to continue…]

Hyundai India is planning on marginal capacity expansion in capacity and launching new models to maintain its share of around 20% in the growing Indian passenger car market. The 2011 Elantra (also known as the Avante) will be launched in our country in the first half of next year. Expected to be powered by both petrol and diesel powerplants, the new Elantra/Avante will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and will be priced between Rs. 11-14 lakhs. [click to continue…]
