ICML will be soon bringing in the Haval H5 SUV from Chinese manufacturer Great Wall. The company which makes the Sonalika tracktors is also working on new platforms of the Rhio MUV. These new vehicles were showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo. The Oyester is a double cab pickup truck based on the Rhino, while the Windy is a single cab version. Both are powered by a 2.0-litre CRDi mill which also does duty on the Tavera Neo3. These vehicles have to be priced very aggresively as Mahindra sells a whole range of pickup trucks based on the Bolero, Xylo and Scorpio platform. The Indian utility vehicle maker, ICML famous for its Sonalika brand is rumoured to likely another SUV to the Indian auto market. This time, it might be the Hava H5. The Haval H5 SUV is actually manufactured by Great Wall Motors, the Chinese automobile manufacturer and this car was spotted on test in Chandigarh. It is most likely that ICML was carrying out development tests before launching the vehicle in the market. Currently, ICML just sells the Sonalika Rhino SUV in the market. Great Wall Motors sells the Haval H5 SUV under the name of X240 in some international markets too. Great Wall Motors is also planning to launch the Haval H5 in the US market. [click to continue…]

The launch of Mahindra XUV500 SUV had created a big stir in the automotive industry. The response was so much overwhelming among the customers that the company had to close its bookings after the XUV500 has recorded over 10,000 bookings within a month after its launch. The SUV segment is witnessing some good sales figures off late and all the auto makers are closely watching this and planning to launch similar products to cash in on the demand when the time is right. One such company who is already planning so is the tractor and SUV maker, ICML Sonalika. The company has already confirmed that they are going to build a brand new SUV that supposedly going to be a rival for the XUV500 and will be showcasing it at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. International Tractors Ltd (Sonalika Group, which also makes the Rhino, pictured above) is in talks with some firms in China and the US to partner in setting up of manufacturing facility to launch its tractors. The company has earmarked Rs 200 crore over the next 3 years for its overall expansion plans. ITL has already tested the prototypes of the tractors in the US market. Besides the company has also started shortlisting companies for acquisition in Europe. ITL has two plants in India and operates five units with local partners in South Africa, Argentina and Jordan. The company has recently partnered up with Argentinian firm Apache to distribute ITL products, which will be assembled in Latin America. [click to continue…]
