Nissan To Launch Evalia MPV In August

Nissan will be launching the Evalia MPV in India in the month of August. The 2012 Nissan Evalia was first showcased at the 11th Auto Expo last month and will be the challenger to the Toyota Innova. The Japanese automaker will also double the production at their Orgadam facility to 4 lakh units from next month. This is being done with the introduction of a second production line at their plant. But where do so many units go? Nissan has been utilizing the low cost manufacturing base to export vehicles to global markets. Nissan e NV200 Concept photo

The Japanese auto manufacturer, Nissan Motors has unveiled the electric version of its famous MPV in Japan, the NV200. To note few things at first, the NV200 is not a very impressive car to look at with is long rounded nose and boxy structure. However, the positive point of such a design is that you get the maximum interior space inside the car and this is one very important factor that the customer looks at before making any purchase. Nissan Motors has now unveiled the electric version of this MPV called e-NV200. The e-NV200, still in its concept stage was first unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. Nissan is quite positive about this product and thinks that there is going to be a market for such cars. So, Nissan has already announced plans of commercializing it to a mass production vehicle. Nissan has unveiled the NV200 van in India. Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor was present at the Nissan stall at the 2012 Auto Expo. Nissan has named the 7-seater MUV, Evalia for India. The Evalia will use the same engine which does duty in the Micra, the 1.5-liter dCi diesel unit will produce close to 100 bhp of power. There will be no petrol engine on offer. The Nissan Evalia has features such as rear View Camera and Intelligent Key as standard. The Evalia will go on sale by the middle of 2012 and will have a starting price of Rs. 8 lakhs, going upto Rs. 12 lakhs for the top end variant. Ashok Leyland unveiled its own version of the NV200 van called the Stile, which will be the commercial version of the Evalia. The Evalia’s USP would be its spacious interiors and Nissan quality. Nissan Motor India will be launching its multi utility vehicle in the month of August 2012 according to a company official. The to-be-launched MUV which be based on the Nissan NV200 that is sold in Europe and other parts of the world. The upcoming MUV will give competition to the Toyota Innova. It will be showcased by Nissan at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo that is going to be held in January. The MUV will be jointly developed by Nissan and Ashok Leyland under the existing joint venture. The MUV however, will be rolled out with the Nissan badge. Earlier, Nissan along with Ashok Leyland had rolled out a 1.25 ton pickup truck called the Dost. [click to continue…]

Nissan is utilizing India as a production base for the Micra and plans to continue the same strategy with the NV200 van. The Japanese automaker will export 20% of the production of the NV200 mini-van to global markets. The company plans to manufacture the NV200 in collaboration with its Indian joint venture partner, Ashok Leyland. Local content on the Nissan NV200 is expected to be high, and similar to the Micra, which has achieved 90% localisation levels. The NV200 will be launched in India in 2012 and will be priced around Rs. 12 lakhs. It will manufactured at Renault-Nissan’s facility at Orgadam, near Chennai. [click to continue…]

When its strategic partner has become aggressive, Nissan can’t sit doing nothing. The Japanese automaker has charted out an aggressive plan to capture a large chunk of the market with the launch of five new models in 2012. It is already present in the small car segment with the Micra and expects to enter the A2 segment with Bajaj and Renault. However, sales are growing at a tremendous rate in the MPV segment and thus Nissan plans to launch the NV200. Nissan NV200 NYC Taxi photo

The Nissan NV200 has been chosen by New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission as the next taxi, replacing the Ford Crown Victoria. The NV200 will commence its duties as Taxi in NYC from 2013 and will be the official cab of the city for the next 10 years. All the current taxi’s will be phased out by 2018 as the city goes green. As part of the deal, Nissan will also offer 100 units of the Leaf electric to taxi drivers who are interested in going all electric.
