Pagani Automobili created the Pagani Zonda Tricolore on the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the “Frecce Tricolori”, as a tribute to the National Aerobatic Team. In 2010 the aerobatic season of the Frecce Tricolori comes to its 50th anniversary, which will be celebrated on 11th and 12th September at Rivolto Airport. The Frecce Tricolori (Italian, literally Tricolour Arrows), officially known as the 313th Aerobatic Training Squadron is the demonstration team of the Italian Air Force, based at Rivolto Air Force Base, in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia.

Formed in 1961 as an Air Force team, replacing previous teams that had been sponsored by various commands by the end of the 1920s, the team flies the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN, a two-seat aircraft capable of 898 km/h at sea level, with nine aircraft and a solo (the highest number of aircraft of any aerobatic team in the world). The Frecce Tricolori belong to the legacy of the entire Italian community.

The crazy track version of the Pagani Zonda R has finally made its debut. The last version of the Zonda before the new Zonda arrives next year, the Zonda R is no less then a extreme mad made hyper car. It took 24 months to develop this track only car and the wait has been well worth it. The Zonda R weighs just 1070 kgs and uses a 6.0 liter V12 made by AMG with power rated at 750bhp. The CLK-GTR derived engine helps to propel this super car to 100kmph in 3.2 seconds and gives it a top speed close to 400 kmph.

The Zonda R uses only 10% of Zonda F basics and is 90% new. A total of 16 Zonda Rs will be made, with a Zonda R being for the company itself, the Zonda R costs a staggering Rs. 8 crore plus. Not worth the money for a car which aint even street legal.

The much awaited race version of the highly desirable supercar Pagani Zonda is not far away from being launched. Known as the Zonda R, it is the ambitious plan of founder Horacio Pagani to have a track special version with a limited run of just ten cars. This super super super car will have atleast 750 bhp of power and has pure carbon-fiber construction.

Rumours are rife that Pagani has ditched its original plans to equip the Zonda R with the 7.3-liter V12 Mercedes-Benz AMG engine which does duty in the Zonda F for a 6.0-liter V12 AMG unit with similar output and torque figures. The heavier and less powerful Zonda F set a Nurburgring lap record of 7:27.82 which is faster than a Porsche Carrera GT. With an extra 100hp the Zonda R should be able to shave a few seconds off that time.

The Zonda Cinque, essentially a hyper-limited five-car run of Zonda Rs built for the street rather than private track use, makes the run from 0-200kmph in just 9.8 seconds with a top speed of over 350kmph. Compared to the €1.2 million ($1.53 million) Zonda R, the Cinque is a relative bargain at €800,000 ($1.02 million).

2010 Pagani Zonda F

The 2010 Pagani Zonda F has been spied in Australia. There is not much to distinguish it from the regular Zonda F. It gets an all new front clip and the rear quarter panels have been re-sculpted to allow for significantly increased airflow.

If you look closely there is a totally new air scoop at the middle of the engine cover. However the biggest change expected is in the engine compartment. Instead of using the 7.3L Mercedes AMG V8 found in the current Zonda, there are rumors of the 5.4L supercharged V8 from the McLaren SLR 722 or the bi-turbo V12 from the recently launched Mercedes SL65 AMG Black series giving a good amount of power to the new Zonda F. Inside, the Zonda F nameplate has been shifted above the toggle switches. The only real change in the interiors seems to be a new shifter. The Zonda has absolutely wide 335/30/ZR20 Pirelli Pzero Rosso tyres at the back and 255/35/ZR19 tyres at the front.

However, there is a catch. Whereas Pagani promised a Zonda R production run of 10 units — none of which have been built yet — the Cinque, as the Italian name implies, will see an even shorter production run. Five, to be exact taking an already breath-takingly fast car to yet another level.
