Piaggio has recently unveiled its small concept, the NT3. The 3-seater car will soon go into production and is aimed squarely at developing markets like India and Vietnam along with other South East Asian nations. The company will make two different versions of the NT3, one which would cater to personal mobility, while the other would be for application movement. The second version will replace the Ape, the light commercial vehicle from Piaggio. The NT3 Concept is based on the Ape and Vespa architecture and will help the company to price it aggressively.
Piaggio is developing a low cost city car which would take the fight to the Tata Nano. The NT3 is expected to be launched by 2013 and will be priced at Rs. 1.5 lakhs. The NT3 is based around the the basic characteristics of the ape. The Piaggio NT3 has a length of only 2.4 metres (the width of the NT3 Concept is 1,500 mm and the height is 1,600mm), which makes it easy to park and maneuver in traffic. In the people carrier version, optimisation of the spaces guarantees full accommodations for three people thanks to the innovative three seat configuration with center driving position.
