The 4th Parx Supercar Show witnessed “MASSIVE” turnout of Mumbaikars to have a glimpse of the most exotic dream-machines proudly owned by fellow Indians. On a beautiful bright, sunny and cool Sunday morning people flocked to the Mahalaxmi Racecourse with their families, friends & colleagues to have a gala time, and they were definitely not disappointed. With the latest super-beauties lined-up along the lush green moist grass, fans were engrossed in clicking, screaming and posing alongside the mean-machines.

The organizers did a fantastic job, the event went smooth without any issues, although the flag-off was bottle-necked due to huge crowds & traffic waiting for the cars to come out the Racecourse and hit the roads. It would be too harsh to blame the organizers for that, after all its “MUMBAI Meri Jaan.” Choosing the Racecourse as the venue was the best decision, as it played host to over 100 cars and thousands of people effortlessly.

It was a treat to all the people, who woke up early morning specially on Sunday and gathered around the venue as early as 8am from all corners of the city. At the time of the Flag-Off, all the spectators were given a treat of their life, with all the supercars lining-up, flashing and roaring their engines to their SCREAMS, ready to hit the roads. “REVV REVV REVV” screamed the crowd within touching distance of these supercars with no barricades and fences, and they got what they wanted. What more can one ask for?

So, was it necessary to wake up early and rush to Mahalaxmi?

No way, remember it was a supercar parade and the Racecourse was just the Tip of the ICE-BERG. Really?, Yes I dare say the excitement, fun and energy, and also the number of people was a fraction of what was still yet to come. The media cars followed the last one out of the gate and onto the roads of Haji Ali, and it turned out to be even more Mumbaikars waiting outside on the streets, lined-up taking all the space available on the road, even the dividers were not spared. Standing there with the cameras out ready to shoot and scream at an on-coming 2-seater, while others in their cars half the body out-side the windows and sunroof followed the parade to bandra and back.

The BEST PART of this parade were witnessed by very few and lucky people who were smart enough to wait for these cars in the BANDRA-WORLI sealink, which included us too. The scene was no less than a HOLLYWOOD ACTION movie, wide empty roads, sea-breeze, sun shining bright on the tarmac, and then you hear it, the sound of monsters approaching you while your eyes search here and there, and “THERE THERE THERE, I see it..!!”. Supercars, more than 20 of them, in full flow, hitting speed excess of 150, staring right at you through their eyes, the roar becomes louder as if someone is slowly turning up the volume of the speakers around you, and then “ZOOM” “ROAR” “ZOOM” “ROAR”…… one bye one each of them passes by you with your head doing left-right-left, the Ferraris, Lamborginis, Audi R8s, all of them, running down towards you, the suspension pole and cables of the bridge acting like a GRANDE ENTRANCE, welcoming these beauties to the people desperately waiting at the BANDRA end.

On the 22nd of January, 2012, Mumbai will see 22000 BHP of supercars coming together for the Parx Super Car Show, which will begin at the Riding School, Mahalaxmi Race Course at 8:30 AM. At 10 AM, the super cars will be flagged off for a 50 km drive around the city, giving by-standers a view of the exotics and the sound of high-revving ponies. In its fourth edition this year, the Super Car Show is all set to expand to Hyderabad and Bangalore and is already a grand success in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.

The route for the super car parade in Mumbai has been organized in such a manner, that maximum visibility of the super cars are received by Mumbaikars. The super cars will head to Worli Sea Face via the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, heading to Kalina and will come back to Mahalaxmi Race Course via Peddar Road. Valentino Balboni (the famous Lamborghini test driver) will be participating in the Lamborghini Aventador, while the two founders of the Super Car Club of India – Gautam Singhania and Hormazd Sorabjee will be taking part in the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Ferrari 599 respectively. Other cars which will create eye candy at the event include Bentley, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Ariel and Aston Martin.

I attended the Supercar meet last week, which was organized by Gautam Singhania. Almost all brands of supercars were present at the event including Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati. All the supercars were revving their big engines as if the fuel cost are of peanuts. This meet happens every month or two and was at turfs club. After everyone gathered the complete mob headed towards marine drive, then via sea link to the domestic airport and dispersed from there. In all, it was an amazing experience to witness the best cars in the world, being present at one location and driving in sync with the insane throaty roar from the exhausts making bystanders skip a beat.

This is undoubtedly the best job (motorsports not included) that an car enthusiasts would come across. UK’s Repaircar is looking for drivers who can drive customer’s supercars (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and the likes) from the customer’s place to the company’s workshop and vice versa. The British Company is on the lookout for a talented person who is fit for the job, having atleast 10 years of high performance vehicle driving experience in Europe. Once employed, the driver will have to pick and drop supercars at the customers house and will have to take public transport on the way back. We all are enthusiasts in some way or other. Some of us are speed freaks, while others are crazy about the noise a car motor makes. However due to the exorbitant prices of super cars we seldom get a chance to experience how a V8 engine feels when driven at full steam. Has it ever happened to you, that you are on the road, on your way to work and all of a sudden a super car roars past you. Surely that experience or rather encounter stays in your head for a few days with the noise of the machine ringing in your ears for days to come. Now to get that experience you either need to buy your own supercar (which is not that easy to do) or you have to borrow from your friends (that is if they have one, which is highly unlikely in most scenarios). So how do you get that V8 Race Experience?

Well there are many tracks (not in India yet) who offer this facility of renting a super car and driving it all day on a track. They also offer expert training to ensure you know what you are doing. The supercar races offered are in various ranges from 100km ones to 1000km ones. Imagine racing in a 600bhp racing V8 supercar meant for the race track where you are neck and neck with other drivers on the track. Although the cars are based on road cars, they have been modified for the track to give you the adrenalin rush which a turbo charged machine offers. We don’t have the roads but we want them. The worlds fastest cars which are not only fast but look the part are coming to our country this December. We had early reported on the arrival of the SSC Ultimate Aero here but Dubai based Ultimate Motors has other plans with the launch of the Zenvo ST1 and Arash AF10 as well. UK based Arash has a unique road car aerodynamics whereas Denmark’s Zenvo comes with full carbon body and steel chassis. The cars don’t come cheap at Rs. 5 crore.

“The demand for luxury cars in India is increasing of late and people are now keen to have customised cars. We are in touch with four leading dealers in India and expect to launch the commercial Super Hyper Cars by the end of this year,” Ultimate Motors’ President, Nasser Al-Hai said.

There were some awesome supercars at the Autocar Performance Show. From the Ariel Atom to the most hyped car on planet earth, the Nissan GTR R35. The Audi TT did not attract much attention in front of the playstation influenced GTR. And you can hardly make out the Bentley Continental GT is modified by Mansory.
