I'm using a Fiat Linea Petrol PK since Mar 2009 and have just given it for my second free service. I get an avaerge of about 11 -12 Km/L in city usage ..n that too in Bangalore and for long drives it gives me an average of about 13 - 14 Kms/L...cos u tend to push the car to 165 Kms /Hr and fuel does burn at that power usega range. I have never had any issues with the car till now except for certain flimsy plastic fittings like the fake chrome door handles which keep coming off..!

Ajay, I am sure Fiat understands all this and won't go overboard with the pricing. I too am a keen fan of their cars and was waiting for a power boost.

Dear Fas,

I hope the price rise, if any, is not substantial.

All of us flocking here to discuss and/or buy Linea/Punto are doing so only because of the value for money preposition. As soon as Linea/Punto ceases to be a VFM preposition, most of the potential customer will wean away and look for other/better options.

Everybody is aware that Fiat in India, as yet, does not command that much brand equity, and it would be foolish for Fiat India to price its cars equivalent or more than its other competitors. Even today, Maruti Suzuki has more than half the share of Indian Car market. Most of the car buyers explore Maruti Suzuki range (barring people who are very brand conscious, and are not looking for VFM prepositions) before looking at other brands. I, for instance, did the same, before short-listing Linea.

Hope, good sense prevails with Fiat India Guys. Otherwise, as soon as Linea/Punto ceases to be a VFM preposition, many of the potential buyers may drift away to other brands, offering better value prepositions. I may also do the same.

Ajay, that seems awesome news. But that would also mean a heavy price hike of the Punto. Now lets see how Fiat prices it.

By the way, one more addition, Fas. The Business Standard news item also informed that the current 1.3 VGT of Linea Diesel shall find its way in Punto. Punto already has the current 1.4 petro (90 bhp) from Linea. I believe Punto competition will have something to worry about.

Vimal, people comment without driving the car. They look at the specs on paper and make judgements. Sad but true.

Dear all,

Just one great news. New engines are on their way into Fiat Linea. These would be 1.4 t-jet petrol (with 120 bhp) and 1.6 uni-jet diesel (also with 120 bhp). This information was in a recent date Business Standard. After lapse of some days from this happening, I called up some FIAT dealerships in Delhi to have their take on this information, I was informed by more than one dealership that their sales persons were away for a training programme. Now, you add 2 plus 2, and get the desired answer. It appears to be only a matter of days or weeks, before these engine versions are out. I, for that matter, am convinced and waiting for t-jet to arrive to make my purchase.

Hi i have taken TD of both new Honda city and fiat Linea{Diesel},
Well i din"t find any noticeable difference in performance including pick up and all....
So why the people and websites around are shouting horribly that Linea is underpowered,I think this rumor is just like a rat race
Go and test drive both the cars..Linea diesel is no way underpowered it races up like a City and in at high sppeds even better than it.
