Hey guys, we all are mad about tuning our machines for power, and since i tuned my machine here's my long term report on joel's performance kit for pulsar 200 dtsi

The Pulsar 200 Dtsi needs no introduction, it’s been on the market since 5 years now, and a beautifully maintained one still gets that extra attention. As Bajaj themselves quotes, “The legendary looks of pulsar 200.” But it’s not just the “ Legendary” looks what made everyone go gaga, it was performance that was biblically good when compared to its predecessor and matter of fact as good as its elder sibling, which concludes the fact that how it might have treated and treats its competition.

So as time passes by, machines feels a bit dated and makes the owners say at some point of time “we need that extra punch now.” And very few people know me and know my hunger for more POWER.
Exactly one and a half year ago I was reading about how to tune my machine, and get good reliable products which gave plenty of performance and at a good price. First though, yes it was the “K&N” that strikes to every bikers mind. The sound, the initial low-end response even I am was pretty amazed when I tried It on my friends P200, but personally speaking I don’t like the sound and after certain period of time its shows what it really is, it’s a incomplete product without proper fueling process.

Race concept is what I saw on a Monday morning (best Monday of my life?) saw the website, saw that my bike is on his target list and came to know that he tunes machines with great precision and fills it with furious horses AND guarantees no loss in kmpl numbers and rise in kmph numbers and ensures reliability and increase reliability in case of Pulsars. Well it sounds like exactly what I needed. Read reviews and long term ownership stories on how he has created angels into devils and machines to monsters. Got into contact via email, first time, no reply, several months later, contacted Joel, got a reply! About what the products were and how much was the price. Saw my pocket and said yeah! Ordered the big bore kit, got it in a week, finished the punishing part (RUN-IN Period!).

Performance ? It’s savage! They way the bike redlines it truly out of the character for a pulsar, and the way speeds build up makes my front suspension do overtime. I remember the first time when I redlined the bike in first gear; I lost my voice in the astonishing moment on what my bike had achieved. There is definite pump of 2-3bhp and acceleration time of 0-60 and 0-100 have reduced by a healthy 2/ 2.5 seconds! One of the fastest accelerating machines just got faster by this huge margin makes u grin wider than a joker. Top speed has a marginal increase but they way it reaches there truly spectacular. The engine feels so light and while cornering in gear, it isn't an effort anymore, nor is it scary. Reliability, well Joel has been true to this fact as well, Despite redlining most of the time the bike doesn't even eat up 10ml of oil which is truly mind boggling and only pulsarians can understand what this achievement is.

Fuel efficiency has taken a hit, it used to return me 39kmpl and in absolute sane condition 43kmpl but now I don’t ride it that sanely but it still returns 35kmpl with normal petrol, while Joel recommends premium fuel, which has become a scarcity all of sudden in my locality. But I think if ridden sanely should reach 38kmpl which is most stock owners get, so even FE part makes me happy. This is what seems to be just the beginning of what Joel and Team Race concept can do to my bike. I know I should have ordered the free flow exhaust first but due to some reasons I couldn't, but now I am ready to tame of whatever comes next.

Downsides? Well they were like expectation in my case, the sound hasn't changed dramatically, but it has changed for the feels honeybees are dancing in my combustion chamber. Brakes are not capable of handling this massive power gain one should upgrade them quickly. Top speed which has increased by 4-5kmph but like I said it is in limit. Well if top speed is your priority you should get a camshaft in the first place which increases top speed dramatically.

The conclusion is this, that even after 4000kms; semi synthetic oil has been only changed once which says a lot here. This is a must have for every Pulsar200 owner out there, its offer so much at a decent price it’s just makes you go mad not the first time when u felt the power, but it will make you happy when you effortlessly win that red light drag, the smoothness which is on par with Japanese motorcycles and fuel efficiency which hasn't changed drastically.

All I can say is, BABY I AM ADDICTED, AND I AM OUT OF CONTROL ;)

    Live free, Ride hard!

Nice to see the report from you Mohit. You bike has indeed transformed with the Joel kit. More than the performance, its the value for money which matters, something which you don't get easily.

You have indeed found a good way to keep up the speed on your Pulsar 200, till you upgrade to the bigger Ninja 300R next year
Help us! Just follow THESE simple rules when you post

    Very nice Article

Sounds tempting to me, I too have Pulsar 200, 65000 Kms clocked.
