A lot of companies have entered the Indian market in a hope to grab the largest possible customer base. Because of this, a lot of cars are being launched at a competitive prices which leaves a common man baffled about which car to choose! So members, what do you think is the requirement of the Indian market right now? I mean what do you think the people need right now or in the near future. You can talk about any aspect of the car.

I think we need well priced sports cars and pick-up trucks. Many people use the car for 2 people so a nice and frugal diesel sports car could do well.

Bringing the sports cars and pickup trucks will be like introducing a whole new segment just like the entry of compact SUV's. This is help in further diversifying the present market and the public will be pampered with more choice. Engines need to improve. More importance should be given by the companies to improve their hearts rather than body parts.

With growing income in the hand of the young generation (25-40 age group), I think sports cars and compact SUVs would be a craze. Diesel variants at a good pricing would be the icing on the cake. Crossover SUVs are already making a mark, they are very practical vehicles with good ground clearance and go-anywhere looks !

Why do you think are no manufacturer's looking to develop electric vehicles like Tesla does? With the growing prices they should be able to attract decent number of customer.

Problem with electric cars in India is that we don't have sufficient infrastructure to support it. Heck, we don't have electricity in quite a few places, how will person re-charge? By running a generator?

    I agree to Faisal.

One more thing is that electric cars are also expensive like other cars so people wont buy it.

I think Indian market needs better engines. We have good diesel engines but in petrol tech, we are far behind. Engines like the 1.0-litre EcoBoost is what will boost petrol car demand. Such engines not only give better performance but are more frugal too.

So from Renault, Fiat, Volkswagen, I expect 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines.

Atleast FIAT and VW should not bump ten years only technology to India.

Look at Hyundai all of their cars are from their global portfolio are present in India with latest technology and design, then why don't other car companies don't provide us latest technology and design.

Nissan should think about Leaf to bring in India. I saw that car in Sheffield and it looks amazing.

Leaf has no potential in India. It will cost a lot and we don't have infrastructure yet. Have you read our Nissan Leaf review?
