Question Jeep and Abarth coming to India : What do you think?

FIAT India announed its big future plans recently.

They are going to launch their performance brand "ABARTH" in India. Abarth is what AMG to Merc.

Looking at Petrol prices in India does FIAT will gain success for Abarth or it will just to boost the Brand image in India. I think they wont be concentrating on sales figures of Abarth.

Jeep will be entering in India with Grande Cherokee and will launch few more SUVs in few years.

I am expecting good numbers from Jeep if they launch Jeep SUV manufactured in India to keep prices under control.

    Please share your thoughts.

I think its an excellent move by Fiat. Both brands are very good and have potential in India. Fiat is on the right path, finally.

I hope FIAT will price Abarth cars more practically in India. We can share our Abarth Punto Evo Essesse review on our FB page to be in limelight

Faisal as you know Abarth uses MultiAir engine with tuned avataar, does TATA motors will get access of these engines as well?

Jeep is gonna use higher displacement of Multijet engines so does TATA will also use these engines in Aria, Safari or its SUV which will be launched in Future?

Tata Motors can certainly use any of the engines Fiat has in its portfolio. Will it use it, I doubt as the current crop of engines more than suffice for Tata cars. When Tata Motors uses Fiat engines, Fiat gets benefit too, albeit financially.

Now Vista is available with 90HP VGT Engine which makes Vista more practical (and now the speedometer console is placed correctly). Vista 90HP will definatly hamper Punto's sales as it is cheaper than Punto.

The same case will happen that if TATA uses MultiAir engines then it would reduce the exclusivity of FIAT cars and offcourse TATA cars will be cheaper than FIAT cars and again FIAT will be in problem.

Punt doesn't sell, so there is no question of hampering. Last month Fiat sold 207 units of the Punto, now its anyone's guess that the 90HP version would be less than 10 units.

That is a problem Fiat has created on its own. No doubt Tata is a bigger winner with the JV.

Around Rs. 25 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). They intend to compete with MINI.

Fiat could offer high end diesel version but that won't make sense since Abarth is about high performance tuned cars. Abarth means nothing as such, it's named after the founder Carlo Abarth. It is spelled - A-bar-th.
