2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

The Korean car manufacturer, Hyundai Motors never got a chance to crack the Indian SUV market. First they brought the Tuscon and the Terracan but they failed miserably. Learning from these mistakes, they brought in the Santa Fe which didn’t fail as miserably as the earlier ones but didn’t impress very much either. Personally though, the car was not bad at all. Now, armed with a brilliant design department, Hyundai has set rolling out all its models after applying the Fluidic design touch to them. The latest to receive this Fluidic touch is Hyundai’s SUV, the Santa Fe. Though not to be launched very soon in the Indian market, we got hold of some spy shots, thanks to Burlappcars.

The Fluidic Hyundai Santa Fe looks very impressive both from the front and the rear. The current Santa Fe had some faint fluidic sculpture lines which have got enhanced after getting the official Fluidic make-over. The rear end looks beautiful and strongly resembles the Audi Q7. Rumour also has it that the Santa Fe would be one of the last models to get the Fluidic make-over from Hyundai. Under the hood though, things remain the same. The Santa Fe will be powered by the same 2.2 litre CRDi diesel engine that produces 197 PS of power at 3800 RPM and 421 Nm of torque at 1800 RPM.

The engine is mated to a 6 speed manual or automatic gearbox. Power is sent to either 2 wheels or 4 wheels depending upon the configuration you choose. The Santa Fe is expected to retain the suspension components, the McPherson strut at the front and Multi-Link type at the rear in the Fludic model. Hyundai also has plans to start local assembly of the Santa Fe to keep the costs low. This is a welcome move by the company judging by the fact that many companies are foraying into the SUV segment.
