Once the BS6 norms into effect, the Hyundai Venue will get a 1.5-litre diesel engine replacing the current 1.4 unit.

Hyundai Venue Video Review
The 1.5-litre engine will produce 90 HP and 220 Nm on the Venue

The Hyundai Venue is the latest entrant in the compact SUV segment and this vehicle has been received very nicely by the Indian market. It fetched extremely good sales in the previous month and overtook its rivals by a large margin.

Currently, the Hyundai Venue is offered with 3 engine options – 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.4-litre diesel (shared with the i20). The 1.4-litre diesel engine won’t comply with the BS6 norms and hence Hyundai will discontinue it and offer a 1.5-litre oil-burner with the Venue.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine is the same one that is being offered with the Kia Seltos. This engine is available in VGT and non-VGT versions producing 115 HP/250 Nm and 90 HP/220 Nm respectively. The non-VGT version will replace the 1.4-litre engine while the VGT engine will replace the 1.6-litre diesel engine from Hyundai.

The Hyundai Venue and i20 will get the non-VGT engine while the Verna and Creta will get the VGT version. As of now, the 1.4 will continue doing duty and this change is expected to happen only closer to the April 2020 BS6 deadline.
