The KTM Duke 790 has been recently launched in India and just when the crowd settled down, KTM has announced that it will launch the 790 Adventure in our country next year. The two motorcycles will share the same platform and the latter will be offered as a BS6 model. As if the Duke 790’s price tag wasn’t high enough, be ready to shell out more for its adventure sibling. In the United Kingdom, the Duke 790 costs £8799 (Rs. 7.70 lakhs), while the 790 Adventure is tagged at £11,099 (Rs. 9.72 lakhs). If the same 20% increase is taken in India, the 790 Adventure would have an asking price of Rs. 10.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Similar to Duke 790, the 790 Adventure too will enter our shores via the CKD route and bear low level of localisation. It is speculated that the Austrian brand will bring the base 790 Adventure, but the higher-spec model – the 790 Adventure R, with its premium adjustable suspension – is also being considered for our market.

The 790 Adventure draws power from a 799cc, parallel-twin engine producing 94 PS and 88 Nm of torque. Both the versions employ the same 21-inch front wheel, identical engine tuning and braking hardware. The 790 Adventure R has been equipped with 48mm WP XPLOR front fork with a massive 240 mm suspension travel, while the stock bike features 43 mm USD fork.

Braking duties are undertaken by twin 320 mm discs with radially-mounted 4-piston calipers and a 260 mm disc at the rear. The motorcycle offers a massive ground clearance of 233 mm while it weighs 189 kgs (dry). Seat height is quite tall at 850 mm and the fuel tank has a capacity of 20-litres.
