2012 Hyosung GT250R Review

Korean Bike manufacturer, Hyosung, plans to launch two new bikes in the Indian market. First will be a 250cc single-cylinder sports bike and second will be a 250cc cruiser, called the Aquila. Hyosung will launch the Aquila 250 in April or May 2013 while the single-cylinder 250cc sports bike will be launched in 2014. With sales of smaller sports bikes and lifestyle products on the rise in India, the two new bikes will definitely help DSK-Hyosung rack up a few more sales in India.

Hyosung already have a sports bike in the quarter-litre class but it is a V-twin engine bike with a price tag of about Rs. 2.75 lakhs which does have decent amount of sales. But a new single-cylinder engine will be cost effective to make as well as slightly more fuel efficient. So the new bike will be priced very aggressively and positioned differently in the market to compete with the Honda CBR250R and the KTM Duke 200. The single-cylinder Hyosung 250 can be expected to be priced in the Rs. 1.5 lakh – 2 lakh range.

Hyosung will resurrect the Aquila brand in the 250cc category again in India. The new V-Twin 250cc cruiser will be launched in around three months time in India. This bike will also be known as the GV250. It will be a smaller version of the much bigger GV650. The Aquila 250 will be styled similar to the GV650 but should be slightly smaller in size. This bike will be priced at around Rs. 2 lakhs. With rising interest in motorcycling in India and Hyosung making a good enough name for itself, these new smaller bikes should help in sales in the entry level sports bike and cruiser segments.
