Tagged as the maker of fastest car of the world, Bugatti recently caught the frenzy of the auto enthusiastic crowd when the company announced that it is offering test drivers of the famous model, the Veyron in Mumbai. We recently brought you the news of Bugatti offering test drives for its model, the Veyron Grand Sport. Now, after giving the Mumbaikars a feel of what it is to be like inside a car that does a top speed of 407 km/h, it is time now for the Hyderabadis to get a feel of the same.

Flown directly from France by the company, the Veyron Grand Sport with a removable hard top was put up for display only for a select group of people at a star hotel on Sunday night in the city. The Veyron with its hefty price tag of Rs. 24 crores (after levying the duties imposed by the Indian Govt on 16 crores) was available to be experienced by only a select few Hyderabadis mostly auto enthusiasts and affluent people who could afford to buy such a vehicle. The Grand Sport is very aerodynamically designed which helps it to attain such high speeds and only 300 of such models have been manufactured by the company. The test drives mainly took place at the outer Ring Road in Hyderabad only to account for the very low ground clearance of the model. The vehicle is expected to remain in the city for few days before being transported to New Delhi.

Unless you have been living under your computer table, you must be well aware that one of the most advanced, yet super quick car in the world was launched in India last year. Now, with sales being quite dismal (or so I am made to believe, with not a single sightseeing), Bugatti has commenced test drives of the 400+ kmph car to prospective customers in India. Bugatti is now on an India tour wherein their official lead test pilot, Pierre Henri Raphanel will be in Mumbai to conduct test drives for the Veyron 16.4 Grandsport. This will be followed by the Veyron roaming around other parts of India. Exclusive Motors is the Indian distributor of the Bugatti Veyron and this supercar is priced at Rs. 16 crore (excluding taxes and dependent on currency fluctuations).

Constant 250 kmph require only 270-280 of the Veyron’s horsepower. More than 700 HP are continuously on standby for quick and fast interludes. In other words, at 1000 RPM, only slightly above idling, the Veyron has 730 Nm torque available. Between 2200 and 5500 RPM, 1250 Newton meter torque are permanently accessible. No other production vehicle has ever offered comparable torques.

The Bugatti Veyron is powered by a 8000cc, W16 engine (if you can call it that) which produces 1001 PS of power and 1250 Nm of torque. The Veyron Grandsport reaches 0-100 kmph in 2.6 seconds and onto a top speed of 408 kmph (with just takes a minute to reach from standstill). But what makes this car so insanely awesome? For starters there are 4 turbochargers and ten radiators!! This includes 3 heat exchangers for the air-to-liquid intercoolers, 3 engine radiators, 1 differential oil radiator, 1 engine oil radiator, 1 for the air conditioning system and 1 transmission oil radiator. The Veyron Supersport which is not yet launched in India is even more powerful, boasting of 1200 PS of power and 1500 Nm of torque. The Veyron Supersport reaches a top speed of 431 kmph.

Volkswagen Group company Bugatti Automobiles has launched the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport in the country priced at Rs. 16 crore making it the most expensive car in India. The price of the car will be subject to foreign exchange fluctuation and the levels of customisation that a buyer demands. The super car will be distributed by the company’s Indian dealer Exclusive Motors. Delivery will take around 6 months from the date of order. The company aims to sell 80 Veyrons globally this year (including 4 from India).

“Bugatti has been doing well in America, Europe and the Middle East. Now we see India as an emerging market for us, hence we have decided to bring the car to India,” Bugatti Automobiles Sales Market Manager (Middle East, Europe and India) Guy Caquelin said.

The McLaren F1 is touted as the greatest supercar of all times. The Bugatti Veyron has the craziest numbers of all times. When both go head to head, its battle royal. However Bugatti has recently launched a new and more powerful version of the Veyron with 1200bhp (read more here) which we are sure can easily beat the F1 in any type of drag race. The new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport has achieved a new landspeed world record for production cars, on the proving grounds of the Volkswagen Group at Ehra-Lessien (nearby its headquarters at Wolfsburg). In the presence of the German Technical Inspection Agency (TU?V) and a representative of Guinness Book of Records the Super Sport achieved an average top speed of 431 km/h. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport boasts of high performance of 1,200-hp (882 kW) offering experienced drivers a whole new dimension of excitement, with a maximum torque of 1,500 Newton metres and a limited top speed of 415 km/h (to protect the tyres) but, the technique of the Super Sport is identical to the record car. The first five Super Sports to come off the production line will constitute a special series of their own, with the same configuration as the landspeed record car.

Four enlarged turbochargers and bigger intercoolers have been used to boost the power of the 16-cylinder engine, and the chassis has been extensively redesigned to maintain safety at extreme speed – thanks to slightly raised main-spring travel, stronger stabilisers, and new shock absorbers with a complex architecture originally developed for racing cars. This gives noticeably more precise control of the wheels and the car as a whole. With lateral acceleration of up to 1.4 G and improved interaction between the tyres and the intelligent all-wheel drive system, the Super Sport offers perfect handling and even more powerful acceleration of 1,500 Newton metres on corner exits.

The body has been fine-tuned to improve aerodynamic efficiency and maintain perfect balance in every situation, while the new fibre structure of the all-carbon monocoque ensures maximum torsion rigidity and passive safety – at reduced weight. The skin is made entirely of carbon-fibre composites, and the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport is available in 100 per-cent clear- lacquered exposed carbon on request.

Volkswagen is all set to get one of the worlds fastest machine onto Indian roads with the launch of the Bugatti brand in the country next year. The French company which currently produces only the Veyron was taken over by Volkswagen and the rest as they say is history. The supercar has a record of sorts with 1001hp of power on tap and capability to nudge past 400kmph. As always, nothing in life comes cheap and the Veyron is set to cost a cool Rs. 8 crores thanks to it being imported and the unfavourable EXIM policies. Now only if we have the necessary infrastructure to drive these cars. Wishful thinking, you bet.
