Sachin Tendulkar has sold off his Ferrari to a Surat based businessman. The ace batsman received the Italian sports car as a gift from 7-time world F1 champion Michael Schumacher on behalf of Fiat India for equaling Don Bradman’s 29 Test century record. The Ferrari 360 Modena, which was gifted in 2002 got into contreversy in 2003 from customs, but was cleared after the finance minister waved off the 1.13 crore duty on the car. The price at which Sachin has sold his car has not been revealed, nor has the replacement to the scarlet car disclosed. What could replace Sachin’s Ferrari in his garage?

“I have bought the 360 Modena Ferrari car directly from Sachin Tendulkar with all legal documents. It was my dream to drive a Ferrari and now my dream has come true,” Jayesh Desai, Chairman of Raj Hans group, said.

Ferrari has officially entered the Indian market and has appointed the Shreyans Group as its official importer. The Italian super car maker has launched the California priced at Rs. 2.2 crore, 458 Italia priced at Rs. 2.56 crore, 599GTB Fiorano priced at Rs. 3.37 crore and the FF priced at Rs. 3.37 crore (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings of these sports car is now open at the company’s first dealership in Delhi. The second showroom is set to come up in Mumbai in the later half of 2011. Deliveries will take anywhere between 3 months to an year depending on the level of customization.

“Till yesterday, Ferrari was present in 57 countries. Now we are in the 58th country, which is India. We should have been in India much before and we expect to be able to sell more than 100 cars in the next 2-3 years,” Amedeo Felisa, Ferrari CEO, said.

Ferrari is confirmed the launch of its first showroom in India to be on the 26th of May, 2011. The Italian carmakers first dealership will be in Delhi, near Janpath. The second dealership will come up in Mumbai in June. The company will be selling its entire line up of supercars including the most recent, FF. Prices will start upwards of Rs. 2 crore but exclusivity and speed don’t come cheap, specially not in a Ferrari.

Ferrari has announced a new maintenance programme in Europe, wherein customers ordering a Ferrari California, 458 Italia or FF from the authorized dealership network will be entitled to a free seven year standard maintenance. Genuine Maintenance is Ferrari’s exclusive service that ensures that its cars are maintained to the highest level and can be available by subsequent owners as well. Covering the workmanship for the scheduled maintenance along with the relative original spare parts, engine oil and brake fluid, this is the first time that a supercar manufacturer is offering such a programme. Will Bugatti, Lamborghini, Pagani and Audi follow suit?

Ferrari has appointed Shreyans Group as the official importer for its cars in India. Shreyans Group will setup its first independent Ferrari dealership in New Delhi this summer and will follow it with another dealership in Mumbai later this year. Ferrari experienced professionals will manage the upcoming dealer network and will provide authorised service to the scarlet supercars. The Ferrari cars which will be available in India include the California, 458 Italia, 599GTB Fiorano and the recently launched 4-seater FF. The Ferrari dealerships will feature personalisation area with complete options to configure the prancing horse model.

Ferrari has confirmed its entry into the Indian supercar maket. The company will bring its complete range of sports cars in April, 2011. The Italian supercar major has tied up with Shreyans Group (the sole distributor of Porsche in India), which will be its sole distributor and will first showroom in Delhi followed by Mumbai. Ferrari will initially launch the 458 Italia, followed by the California in India. The company is expecting double digit sales in the country, owing to its growing fan following among people of India.
