Honda Motors has unveiled the new face lifted version of their luxury sedan, the Accord in the country of Romania. Both the exteriors and the interiors have been restyled in the new Honda Accord. The entire front grille and the headlamps have been redesigned to make it look sharper than the existing Accord. The Romanian customers will be getting only one engine option, the 2.0L gasoline while the choice of a manual or automatic gearbox is definitely there.

The 2012 Accord’s boot space has been reduced and the rear end styled to look more like a coupe. The rear glass window thickness has been increased by 0.9 mm to improve noise insulation. Sound absorbing materials have also been added at lot many places to improve the overall NVH aspect of the car. The suspension has also been re-tuned for better ride and handling characteristics. The Accord is being offered in two trim levels – Elegance and Executive. It comes with a top speed of 215 km/h and 0-100 km/h sprint in 9.3 seconds.

Honda has launched the new 2011 Accord in India. The 8th generation Honda Accord now features a new Chrome accentuated front grille, rear chrome garnish and new front bumper. The Accord now features steering mounted cruise control system, wooden panel, ORVM with turn indicators, improved audio system, Jackknife key and sunroof (in all the variants). The 2011 Honda Accord is now equipped with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) to assist the driver in maintaining control during cornering, acceleration and sudden maneuvers by applying braking to the right or left hand wheels as necessary and modulating the engine torque output as required.

Honda India will launch a minor facelifted Accord in next month. The 2011 Honda Accord’s exterior now features a new style for the front grille, front bumper and rear deck lid, along with a new wheel design. The climate control buttons are now positioned on the right side of the instrument cluster, closer to the driver and less frequently used buttons are shifted to the left side (a slight revamp of the center console). There will be no change in the engine specifications on the car and the same 2.4L and 3.5L petrol motors will continue to do duty on this Honda.

Honda is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Honda Accord V6 and model year 2011 Honda Pilot vehicles. The bolts that attach the lower left and right front damper bracket to the front suspension and the spindle nuts on the pilot may not have been properly tightened which may result in loss of steering. The spindle nuts for the axle on the accord v6 may not have been tightened properly which may result in excessive noise and/or loss of steering. Loss of steering increases the risk of a crash. Dealer will inspect and replace any loose front damper bracket bolts or spindle nuts on the pilot if necessary. Dealer will inspect and replace the spindle nuts on the Accord V6 if necessary.

A New York teachers 1996 Honda Accord was stolen 3 years ago and she had no hope of getting it back. However, cops recently found the car without the VIN filed off. They were able to track it back to the original owner and the woman got a pleasant shock to see her car updated with V-TEC powerplant and stick shift. Who says thiefs don’t drag race?

Honda has introduced an Electric Sunroof in the Accord 3.5L V6 based on the customer’s feedback. The Accord V6 will also feature Ambient Light and Footlight which will enhance visibility during darkness allowing enough light to see the controls. The car will also be equipped with 2 sets of Keyless entry for added convenience to the customers. The Footlight and 2 sets of Keyless entry have also been introduced in the Honda Accord 2.4L MT/ AT variants. In addition, Honda Accord 3.5L V6 and Honda Accord 2.4L now have a provision for Mobile phone with Bluetooth interface. The Accord range will be available at Rs. 18,52,000/- for 2.4L MT, Rs.19,27,000/- for 2.4L AT and Rs 26,15,000 for 3.5L V6 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

Honda India has launched a more powerful version of the Accord with a 3.5 litre i-VTEC engine which produces 276PS of power and 339NM of torque. The new Accord V6 comes with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), 17 inch wheels, paddle shifts and cruise control. The new Accord V6 is priced between Rs 24.8 lakh and Rs 25.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The more powerful Accord would be available in two variants – Accord V6 3.5 and Accord V6 3.5 Inspire and comply with Euro IV emission norms.

“We expect the sales of earlier version of Accord with 2.4 litre engine in higher numbers than this new Accord,” Honda IndiaVice-President (Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen said.

The existing Accord comes with a 2.4 litre engine that generates 180 horsepower. The price of the car starts at Rs 16.72 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Accord would give a mileage of 10km/litre as per Automotive Research Association of India conditions.

Honda India will launch a more powerful version of  the Accord with a V6 engine in the Indian market next week and it is likely to be priced at about Rs 25 lakh. The new Accord V6 would come with a 3.5 litre engine, generating 280hp.

“We are ready with our new Accord V6 and it will be launched by next week,” Honda India President and CEO Masahiro Takedahawa said.

Honda India will launch the 3.5-litre V6-engined Accord by end of March 2009. The V6 VTEC engine produces a fantastic 270bhp, but Honda will detune the power to around 250bhp for India. The V6 Accords engine boasts Honda’s Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) which allows the Accord to run on all six cylinders when you need all the horses and switches to either four or three cylinders for cruising or low speeds.

Honda will offer the V6 with five speed automatic gearbox. We would have loved a manual with paddles but alas. The V6 version also has thicker anti-roll bars to cope with the extra power, and will have 17-inch rims. The V6 Accord will be priced approximately Rs 1.5 lakh over the regular four-cylinder model.

Honda has been testing its 2.2 CTDi diesel engine since some time now. S_budhiraj a team-bhpian spotted this Accord under test. As seen in the images, it has red UP16 plates which is used by none other then Honda. This seems to be the Accord sold in the European markets or maybe the one sold in the States as the Acura TSX.

Certainly Honda won’t be launching it as an Accord. If they do launch it, it will carry Honda’s premium badge Acura. The above car sounded like a diesel and Honda has been planning to get the Acura range in India. We can’t really pinpoint what Honda plans to do, they still have not launched the CRV Diesel, but Honda needs to get diesels as Indians love diesel cars.
