GM is recalling certain model year 2006 through 2010 Hummer H3 vehicles. Some of these vehicles have a condition in which the integral clip-tabs on the louver on the hood may fracture, causing the hood louver rattle against the hood and become loose. If this indicator is unnoticed, additional clips could fracture and the hood louver could detach from the vehicle. If the vehicle is being driving when this occurs, it could strike a following vehicle and cause injury and/or property damage. Dealers will apply an adhesive to the hood louver to secure it to the hood. This service will be performed free of charge.
General Motors will shut down Hummer after its bid to sell the brand to heavy equipment maker Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machines Co. failed. The Chinese company was unable to get clearance from Chinese regulators within the proposed deal time frame. GM said it will continue to honor existing Hummer warranties and will now work closely with Hummer employees, dealers and suppliers to wind down the business in an orderly and responsible manner.
In its attempt to shed brands on its way to a smaller, more efficient company, General Motors Corp. announced it has sold its Hummer brand to a Chinese company. GM in a bid to increase sales of its loss making Hummer has added a new version to the 2009 line up. Known as Black Chrome Edition, this limited edition H2 SUV and SUT models get 22-inch chrome wheels, chrome grille, hood latches, fuel filler door, door handles, mirror caps, badges, side air vents, spare tire cover emblem, rocker moldings and hood louver.
