Porsche has launched a new variant of the Panamera in India. The Panamera Turbo S is powered by a 4.8 liter, V8 bi-turbo motor which features titanium aluminium turbine wheels and modified engine control managemen to produce 550hp of power and 750Nm of torque. The Panamera Turbo S also has overboost which gives 800Nm of torque when activated. The Porsche Panamera Turbo S accelerates from 0 – 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 306kmph. The Panamera Turbo S will set you back by Rs. 2.65 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) but that is the fastest way you can travel with 4 on board in our country.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S features several key driving dynamics control systems such as Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), an active roll stabilisation system, boosts cornering stability and thus enhances both driving dynamics and comfort in equal measure. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) applies a variable torque split to the rear wheels which, in combination with an electronically controlled rear limited slip differential, ensures superior traction and therefore greater agility in every driving situation. The Sport Chrono Package Turbo, which tunes the suspension settings and engine controls, makes the car even more sporting when the additional “Sport Plus” button is pressed. Completing the dynamic enhancements is a sports exhaust system that delivers a particularly emotive engine sound.

Porsche is recalling certain 2010 Panamera S, 4s and Turbo 4-door sedans and this is not for being ugly. If the front seats are adjusted towards an extreme position, resulting in unfavorable tolerance of the mating components, it is possible that the function of the locking mechanism of the seat belt mount can no longer be guaranteed. The seat belt mount could detach from the anchoring system when the seat belt is fastened or opened. In the event of a crash, the seat belt may not provide adequate protection for the seat occupant, which may increase the risk of injury or death. Dealers will have an additional locking element installed on the seat belt anchoring system for both front seats. This service will be performed free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule.

Precision Cars the official importer of Porsche in the country has launched the Panamera. It is already selling the 911, Cayenne, Boxster and Cayman in India. The Porsche Panamera is available in three variants – S, 4S and Turbo and is capable of hitting a ton in just 4.3 seconds. Porsche also plans to open 3 new showrooms with full service support in Chennai, Bangalore and Ludhiana by next year taking the total dealerships to 6. Though the car has a lot of tech, we would have loved if it looked decently good.

“Panamera will increase our volumes in terms of sales in the country. It is evident from the fact that the dealers have 13 confirmed orders of Panamera before it arrived in the market,” Precision Cars’ MD Rod Wallace said. “Precision has ordered 50 units of Panamera to sell in the country over the next nine-months,” he added.

The Porsche Panamera will be launched in India on 1st October. The ugliest car to have ever left Stuttgart wont come cheap and will cost between Rs. 1.5-2.0 crore depending on variant and equipment.  Porsche India’s target of 50 units this year has been partially achieved with 13 bookings and given the lack of taste of Porsche owners, its not difficult to achieve the said target.

Porsche plans to sell 50 units of the Panamera in India this year. The Porsche Panamera will be launched by 3rd October. The Panamera’s price will range from Rs 1.4 crore to Rs. 2 crore. Porsche has already secured 13 bookings of the 4 door sports sedan. Porsche has sold around 650 cars since its entry into India three years ago. However, 65% of the sales came from the Porsche Cayenne.

Porsche had set up a new plant in Germany exclusively to manufacture about 20,000 units of the Panamera. Total production at its German plant has declined from 98,000 units (in 2008) to 80,000 units this year due to the recession. Indian operations contribute only a meagre percentage of global sales while the US, Europe, China and the Middle East are the big markets. Mumbai was the biggest market for the company, with 60% of sales coming from there, followed by Delhi with 30%, while the remaining 10% came from the rest of the country.

Porsche will launch its 4 door sports car Panamera in India by October, 2009. The Porsche Panamera in India will be priced at Rs 1,41,74,000 for the Panamera S, Rs 1,47,11,000 for the Panamers 4S and a whopping Rs 2,01,84,000 for the Panamera Turbo (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi and is inclusive of VAT and import duty). Panamera is the first four door sports car from Porsche and it will be unveiled at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show 2009.

“Our dealers have already enjoyed considerable interest in the car and have received forward orders prior to the launch. We are working on a simultaneous launch of the car in India as well and are hopeful of welcoming the car in India by late September-early October 2009,” Precision Cars India Managing Director Rod Wallace said.

The entry-level Panamera S will be powered by a 4.8-litre V8 developing maximum output of 400 bhp, whilst the range topping Panamera Turbo will feature a 4.8-litre V8 biturbo developing maximum output of 500 bhp. All variants of the Panamera will come with Direct Fuel Injection, low-friction drive systems and lightweight bodyshells. Porsche’s seven-speed PDK or double-clutch gearbox will be available as standard on all models and will be an option only on the Panamera S.

Porsche expects to beat BMW’s 7 series and Mercedes S-Class sedan by launching its Panamera in September this year in India. Porsche India has already ordered 50 units of Panamera, which is expected to be priced above Rs 86 lakh for the Indian market. “The launch of Panamera marks the entry of Porsche into a brand new segment. In India, we intend to introduce the model around the same time as its global debut. We have begun to get enquiries and we hope to sell 50-60 units of the model in the first year of its introduction in India,” said Mr Rod Wallace, Managing Director, Precision Cars India.

Porsche, which sold 168 units last year, has set a target of 250 units in the current year. Globally, it sold 98,000 units with the US accounting for nearly 40,000 units and Chinese sales were also much ahead of India at 8,000 units last year. Mr Wallace said that he expects the increase in sales through its sports utility vehicle Cayenne and Boxster.
