Toyota Motors has confirmed its plan announced a year ago to import fully-built Lexus cars into the country. This move by Toyota has been prompted by the 22% increase in luxury car sales in the domestic market for the year ended March 2009. Although there are many Lexus cars on Indian roads, all of them are imported directly by individual consumers.

“We are very much looking at introducing Lexus, based on the feedback of our dealers and distributors, but are yet to decide on a final timeframe to launch it in India,” Toyota India MD Hiroshi Nakagawa said.

Seems like a good move on their part. The brand name is well known and there will definitely be buyers. MB, BMW & Audi now have to watch their sales dip that extra bit as soon as Lexus comes in.

hey lexus is nothing but a modified toyota only stupid idiots will buy a lexus it just cant compare to german cars

Amith – I wouldnt be so dismissive of Lexus. Yes the underpinnings may be similar to the Toyotas – but in terms of luxury and refinement they are miles ahead. Lexus is a pretty popular brand the world over and has given the German brands stiff competition in sales numbers.

Lexus is lot better than other Luxury Brands.I live in Toronto and I had choice of buying anything but I opted for Lexus.I bought Lexus RX350 2010 MODEL,way better than Mercedes ML500 or Bmw’s X5 or X6.You need to Drive lexus to infact actually get the idea of the comfort and Luxury.Just the reviews are not good enough
