The much awaited diesel variant of the Chevrolet Beat is likely to be on the road by early next year. Competition is intense with Ford and Maruti doing record sales with the diesel variant and its only a matter of time before GM joined the bandwagon. The diesel beat will be powered by a 1 ltr, about 60 BHP common rail diesel engine which will be manufactured at GM’s Talegaon plant. The Talegaon facility will have production capacity of 1,60,000 engines per annum.

“The one-liter diesel engine will be rolled-out from Talegaon early next year for our small car, Beat,”
said General Motors India Vice-President (Sales, Marketing & Services) Ankush Arora.
