The MUV segment is growing rapidly in India and Maruti Suzuki doesn’t want to stay behind. The segment which Toyota dominates with its Innova will see active competition when Tata launches the Aria later this month. Thus India’s largest car maker plans to make a grand entry into this segment with the launch of a R3 Concept based MUV priced between 7-9 lakhs. The said model will also be used by Volkswagen and Skoda for its own portfolio, leading to a new income stream for Maruti Suzuki. Engine power is expected to come from the 1.3L Multijet engine which does duty in the Swift/Ritz.
