General Motors will launch the Beat diesel in June, 2011. The Beat diesel will feature a 1 liter engine which has been developed by GM India and GM Europe. The engine will be only manufactured in the Talegaon plant only, in the whole world. GM has invested $230 million for the diesel plant which has an annual capacity of 1.6 lakh units. The Beat diesel will be the most fuel efficient car in the country and has been exclusive designed for Indian conditions. GM will launch 6 new models by 2012 which include a new compact car, a sedan, a Sports Utility Vehicle, a pick-up vehicle, a multi-utility vehicle and an upgraded Captiva.
