Yes the Tata Nano will cost upwards of Rs. 3.6 lakhs ($8000) but in the United States as per what Ratan Tata has recently said. The car will be heavily modified to comply with the strict safety norms prevalent in the U.S.A but will retain the same design philosophy. The Nano will get a bigger and more capable engine along with better lights, body, seats, steering wheel, instrumentation as well as airbags and anti-lock braking system when it sees the green light in the U.S. All this will naturally increase the sticker price of the world’s cheapest car by a significant margin.
