Toyota has delayed the launch of both the Etios Diesel and the Etios Liva owing to high demand for the Etios Petrol leading to capacity constraint for the Japanase automaker. Toyota India has earlier postponed the launch of the Etios Liva to June, a two month delay but now the company is busy expanding its facilities in Bangalore by 60000 units an annum. Bookings for the Etios stand at 30000 units out of which the company has been able to deliver only 8300 units since its launch in December, 2010. The delay in launch of the Etios hatchback will only help Honda to have an advantage with its upcoming small car Brio.

“We were earlier looking at an end of the year launch for the diesel variants of Etios and Liva, but now it may only be launched in the first half of next year. The demand for the sedan has exceeded our targets and we are trying our best to reduce the waiting period,” Sandeep Singh, deputy MD, Toyota India said.
