Renault has just now announced the launch of the Fluence in India. The French automaker is very bullish about its second innings in the country and will commence deliveries from the 22nd of June, 2011 across its 18 dealers. The Fluence is available in both diesel and petrol engine options with the diesel being priced at Rs. 12.99 lakhs and the petrol at Rs. 14.40 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The Fluence is the first Renault branded car to be assembled at the company’s Chennai facility.

The Fluence diesel is powered by a 1.5 liter motor producing 106 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 240 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM. The Fluence petrol is powered by a 2.0 liter engine producing 137 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 190 Nm of torque at 3700 RPM. The diesel Fluence is mated to a 6-speed manual transmisison, whereas the petrol is available with a 6-speed CVT transmission. The Fluence is brought in as CKD. The company is planing to increase localisation levels to 50% in the near future for the Fluence as well as the upcoming models.

Renault has not compromised on the equipment levels of the Fluence and the car features chrome touches, alloy wheels, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, button start, smart access, adjustable steering, dual zone climate control, driver seat lumbar support, leather seats, rear AC rear sunblinds, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, Dual SRS Airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP and ASR. Last year, Renault sold 1.30 lakh units of Fluence sedans globally. The company now plans to launch the Koleos SUV in October, followed by three new cars next year.
