Yamaha SZ-R Review

The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, Yamaha has launched the new edition f its commuter motorcycles, the Yamaha SZ-R and the Yamaha SZ-X in the Indian market. The new editions have not received any major upgrades albeit new colour schemes and a kick start facility. The Yamaha SZ series consists of 3 bikes launched by the company, the SZ, the SZ-X and the SZ-R. With the SZ series of motorcycles, Yamaha had forayed into the 150cc commuter segment motorcycling with rivals like the Bajaj Discover, the Honda Unicorn and the Hero Glamour. The new editions, apart from the paint jobs and kick start remain the same throughout.

The SZ series motorcycles are powered by a 153cc, 4 stroke, air cooled, SOHC, 2 valve engine that produces 12.1 BHP of power at 7500 RPM and 12.8 Nm of torque at 4500 RPM. Both the SZ-R and the SZ-X are powered by the same engines. However, in the SZ-R you get a disc brake at the front unlike the SZ-X which gets a drum brake at the front. The SZ-R is now being offered in a White paint job. So now you can choose between 3 colours- Red, Black and White. On the SZ-X the additional paint job being offered is Silver apart from Red and Black. We have also done a comprehensive review of the SZ-Z motorcycle which will be very useful and informative to you in case you are looking for a commuter motorcycle in the 150cc segment. The price of the SZ-X is Rs. 56,500/- while the SZ-R is priced at Rs. 62,800/- (all prices on-road, Mumbai). You can find our Yamaha SZ-R review here.
