The 2012 version of the Toyota Camry marks another iteration of one of the world’s famous sedans. In US alone, the car has been the bestselling vehicle 9 times in a row in a span of 14 years. It has also been quite a good hit since it was launched in the Indian auto market. The 2012 version of this decade old car gets a new updated front fascia which includes re-designed front bumpers, front grille and head lamps. The overall make-over gives it a more aggressive and bold stance. It also gets slightly modified fog lamps below the head lights. The rear also gets a major make-over. The new Toyota Camry was also showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo and is expected to hit the market by mid 2012. Till date Toyota has sold more than 15 million Camry models worldwide. We have already driven the new Camry, you can read our review here.

The 2012 Toyota Camry comes with a choice of a 2.5-litre or a 3.5-litre powerplant. The 2.5-litre, 4 cylinder motor produces 178 BHP of peak power and 230 Nm of torque. It gets a 9 BHP power boost as compared to the earlier generation Camry with an increased fuel efficiency too. The EPA estimated fuel economy figures stand at 10.63 km/l in city and 14.88 km/l on the highway with 11.9 km/l combined overall. The 2.5 litre engine gets advanced technologies like dual VVT-i for controlling the valve timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts for optimal performance and efficiency at all engine speeds and Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS) which helps optimize torque over a broad engine speed range. On the other hand, the 3.5 litre V6 engine delivers 268 HP of peak power at 6200 RPM and 336 Nm of torque at 4700 RPM with fuel efficiency of 8.93 km/l in the city and  12.75 km/l on the highway.

On the inside, the Camry will equally surprise you with the changes. The Camry gets a new dashboard design, modified seat locations, redesigned seats and “lean’ door. Overall, it gives a feeling of more space inside and also enhances outward visibility. The Camry is always known to have a class-leading NVH performance and the new version sets impresses much more in this aspect. A more rigid body structure, revised front suspension, redesigned rear suspension and better aerodynamics all are expected to help imbue the new Camry with greater straight-line stability and crisper steering response, while also enhancing overall ride comfort. The Camry also features safety features like Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist.
