General Motors has quietly launched the 2012 Tavera facelift in India, just when Mahindra is about to launch the facelifted Xylo. The Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 has changes made all around. The exterior now gets new head lights, bigger Chevrolet badge, dual tone colours, chrome inserts and new alloy wheels. On the inside, the Tavera Neo features a dual cockpit design, 3-spoke steering wheel and all new instument cluster with blue illumination. The biggest change though is to the engine, which is now a 2.0-litre TCDi unit producing 106.8 PS of peak power at 4000 RPM and 263.7 Nm of peak torque at 2500 RPM. Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 is BS4 compliant and comes with a 55-litre fuel tank.

The old Chevrolet Tavera with the 2.5-litre BS3 engine will continue to be sold. This engine produces 80PS of peak power at 3900 RPM and 186 Nm of peak torque at 1800 RPM. GM will be targeting the taxi segment (which accounts for a major chunk of Tavera sales) with this version. The Chevrolet Tavera is available in Neo, Neo Max, Neo LS and Neo LT variants with both engines. Prices start at Rs. 6.72 lakhs for the base BS3 variant and goes all the way upto Rs. 10.26 lakhs for the top end BS4 variant (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). This leaves the question of where will the Chevrolet Enjoy be positioned?
